ABC's Gibson: Kerry's Dumb 'Get Stuck In Iraq' Merely an 'Idle Political Remark'
NewsBusters ^ | November 1, 2006 | By Brent Baker

Introducing the lead story on Tuesday's World News about John Kerry's seeming insult of troops in Iraq -- or at the very least that Bush is stupid -- ABC anchor Charles Gibson characterized it as merely an “idle political remark” as he fretted the attention it got from alternative media outlets and how that crowded out other issues: “What happened today is an object lesson in how in this day and age, an idle political remark gets seized upon, becomes fodder for the talk shows, the blogs, and the politicians, and suddenly obscures discussion of all other issues.” Following the story by Jake Tapper, which included shots of NewsBusters (see NewsBusters item with video and screen capture), Gibson pressed George Stephanopoulos about presumed White House duplicity: "George, does anyone at the White House really think that Senator Kerry was in some way denigrating the intelligence of American troops?" Stephanopoulos assured him: "Not exactly, but they don't think it's their job to give John Kerry the benefit of the doubt.”

The Drive Bys are angry Kerry's flapdoodle messed up their blitzkrieg in favor of the Democrats. They're having a temper tantrum now.

I watched the MSM networks last night just to see how bad the spin would be. It was worse than I thought which indicates how bad this is hurting the Dems.

No, this doesn't obscure the issue, it highlights the issue. It highlights the Democrat's thinking about our military. They hate the military because they hate a military solution. And they hate a military solution because they live in a make-believe world where they think they can TALK people like Hitler and Saddam and the nut case from Iran and the nut case from North Korea into being nice.

I dunno, Charlie, why don't we ask Trent Lott? Senator Lott, do you have any words on how Republicans are treated by the drive by media over "idle political remarks"?

Hey - we can't really criticize the State Department. After all, Clinton called Arafatass a man of peace. And Clinton knew a lot about piece. That's all he concentrated on.

wow, did you just hear Fox & FRiends.

An attorney in Maine was arrested for dressing up like Bin Laden with fake weapons and munitions. He had a sign on his chest say I am for lower taxes.

Here is the kicker, this attorney is the guy who LEAKED GW's expunged ticket in the 2000 election.

You mean like Trent Lott's innocent comment about Strom Thurmond that ended up costing Lott his position as Majority Leader?
