Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 4:08 p.m. EST Sen. John Kerry: 'I Apologize to No One'
Sen. John Kerry has refused to apologize for his remarks suggesting that U.S. troops in Iraq are uneducated and not "smart, instead charging that the White House has deliberately misconstrued his comments.
At a Tuesday afternoon press conference in Seattle, Kerry said "I apologize to no one for what he categorized as criticism of the Bush administrations Iraq war policy.
Kerry touched off a storm of protest when he told a college audience on Monday that "if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you dont, you get stuck in Iraq.
The comments drew demands for an apology from Sen. John McCain, the National Commander of The American Legion, and others. White House press secretary Tony Snow called Kerrys statement "an absolute insult.
But at his press conference, Kerry tried to give his remarks a tortuous spin, saying in effect that what he meant was if youre like President Bush and you dont do your homework listen to advice from others before committing American troops, "you end up in Iraq.
He also claimed that the White House understood what he was trying to say yet sought to "distort his comments.
As NewsMax reported earlier, 99.9 percent of the enlisted forces have at least a high school education, and 73.3 percent have been to college.
Among commanders:
Gen. Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, has an MBA from George Washington University and has taken courses at Harvard.
Gen. John Abizaid, Commander of U.S. Central Command, has a masters degree from Harvard.
Gen. George Casey, Vice Chief of Staff in the U.S. Army, has a masters degree from the University of Denver.
Brigadier Gen. Mark T. Kimmitt, U.S. Central Commands deputy director for strategy and plans, has earned degrees from the United States Military Academy, Harvard, the National Defense University, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
LOL, check out those liveshot lights circled in the photo.
What a pretty boy!
He's such an idiot he wouldn't know how to give an apology should he offer one.
Senator Kerry had his chance to advise the president. And like 98 other senators he voted to go to war. Of course, he later voted not to support the war, but that was after voting to authorize the war. Or do I have that backwards? I know he voted both ways (as usuaual). Two faced cowardly bastard that he is.
The sad part is that a significantly large chunk of the US chose a failure like Kerry.
If you flip Ohio into the Kerry column, things don't look too good.
I'm reminded of the old SNL skit where Jon Lovitz (playing Mike Dukakis) looks at the camera and speaking about George HW Bush says "I can't believe I'm losing to this guy".
Let me paraphrase that to say "I can't believe we almost lost to that guy (Kerry)".
You are getting irritating......
You have to admit that it is pretty funny when Ketchup Boy gets himself pumped up into his haughty, "do you know who I am", "how dare you question me" mode - a little reminiscient of Louis XVI of old France.
He stepped in it last night and his hubris in refusing to apologize is only making it worse... he is currently standing in the middle of a huge cow pie and that pie is growing.
I think you put this in the wrong thread. If you report abuse the mod will move it for you.
I'm thinking if I was a D, I'd be a little worried now.....it seems what with this, Michael J Fox and the NJ gay thing, they may have in fact spiked the ball on the ten yard line, just like Rush said.....
AND NO ONE ACCEPTS YOUR FILTHY APOLOGY EVEN IF YOU HAD THE GUTS TO MAKE ONE. 2004 LOSER AND LIFETIME FRIEND OF AMERICA'S ENEMIES.
Wow, those tricky guys at the WH knew what he meant to say (even though he didn't say it) and then distorted what he really said by repeating it. Clever. Must have paid attention in school.
The media knows exactly what he meant, they're just trying to help on the damage control for their party.
John Kerry - The gift that keeps on giving. I think that this is Rove's October Surprise!
You are posting this all over the place. It's off topic here. Buh-bye...
President Bush weighs in!!!.............
The White House also released in advance remarks Bush was to deliver later in the day while campaigning in Georgia, in which the president called Kerry's statement "insulting and shameful." Bush, like his spokesman earlier, said soldiers deserve an apology from Kerry.
"Our troops did not enlist because they did not study hard in school or do their homework," Bush said in his prepared remarks for a former GOP congressman, Mac Collins, who is trying to oust Democratic Rep. Jim Marshall (news, bio, voting record). "The men and women who serve in our all-volunteer armed forces are plenty smart and are serving because they are patriots."

Mr. President;
John Kerry was able to insult every brave man that went to Viet Nam my son among them. Don't let him insult my grandson who is in Baghdad with the U.S. Army!
Did anyone notice how strange his makeup was? I think he was 30 minutes late just primping.
