He's responding to an idiot, and can do nothing but help Kerry out of his predicament by giving him a target.

LOL! One good thing about this election season is that you DSUmmie trolls are coming out of the closet.

What is it about the Freeper class of 98 that they seem to think rabid negativity is some how a sign of intellectual merit?

Huh? What are you talking about?

No one running in a slightly competitive race will be defending him.

Those same people better not have any presidential aspirations then.

Our President lets alot of stuff roll off his back, but not when it involves the troops. I think he is mad as hell and will come out swinging.

If Kerry's joke had any truth to it, the President's address would net the Democrats 30 more House seats.

Wow.

Maybe the President shouldn't mention house seats but it would not be out of bounds for the President to say something to the effect that the public elected him twice so there can't be any truth to what Kerry said.

Appeal to US, the great unwashed who carry this country on our backs, in other words. Darn right we elected G.W. twice and we would not have done any such thing, idiots that we are, if we thought he was using and abusing our fine soldiers for a less than noble cause.

For sure Bush should apologize to our military, on OUR behalf, for the comments of a haughty United States' Senator.

What Bush needs to do is tie the entire Democratic Party to this statement. They are the Party of 'Cut & Run' and Kerry was the Parties nominee.

This is good.

Instead of Snow or Rove addressing the furor, The Commander in Chief should be the one responding to the disparaging remarks about the US Military troops.

The Commander in Chief should come on strong and in no uncertain terms take it to Kerry (and Murtha, and Pelosi, and Reid, and Kennedy, and Durbin, etc.)

President Bush re: Kerry [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

In Georgia today:

....I cannot tell you how proud I am to be the Commander-in-Chief of such incredibly brave men and women who have volunteered to wear the uniform of the United States. And even in the midst of a heated campaign season, there are still some things we should all be able to agree on – and one of the most important is that every one of our troops deserves our gratitude – and respect. Yesterday Democrat Senator John Kerry was speaking to a group of young people in California, and gave them this advice, quote: “You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t you get stuck in Iraq.”

The Senator’s suggestion that the men and women of our military are somehow uneducated is insulting and shameful. Our troops did not enlist because they did not study hard in school or do their homework. The men and women who serve in our all-volunteer Armed Forces are plenty smart and are serving because they are patriots – and Senator Kerry owes them an apology.

Whatever party you belong to, whatever you think about the war in Iraq, we should all agree that our troops deserve our unwavering support. And when it comes to supporting our men and women in uniform, I don’t have any doubt where Mac Collins is going to land. He is a strong supporter of the military. And he knows what I know: Any time you have American troops in harm’s way, they have the right to expect the full support of the American government.

LOL. I did miss it, so thanks. That is just hilarious from top to bottom and qualifies for RYMB status. I can almost hear the twinkle in the President's eye.

He is the Commander In Chief and needs to defend his troops against this obvious slap.

Last night on the Hannity interview Bush laughed at the quotes Sean read about him but you could tell that Bush got ticked when Sean started reading the quotes made against the troops. When Kerry's comments got out today I knew Bush would respond.

This DOES keep the Spotlight on Kerry, AND it allows the President to be Presidential, defending the honor of the United States Military.

Slapping the village idiot around doesn't make you look big or noble, it just makes the idiot look more important than he really is. And any time the President gets involved in anything it directs some of the light on him just because of his office. And I think that more than a few Americans are feeling the need to defend the honor of the military, and that might be reflected at the voting booth.

If this is a formal statement, C-Span will re-broadcast it later this evening. [I'm sure the WhiteHouse website will also post the statement]

If it's a statement uttered during a campaign appearance, I'm not sure we'll see a re-broadcast -- perhaps HotAir and/or YouTube will provide a clip?!
