This DOES keep the Spotlight on Kerry, AND it allows the President to be Presidential, defending the honor of the United States Military.

Slapping the village idiot around doesn't make you look big or noble, it just makes the idiot look more important than he really is. And any time the President gets involved in anything it directs some of the light on him just because of his office. And I think that more than a few Americans are feeling the need to defend the honor of the military, and that might be reflected at the voting booth.

Normally I would say you are right, but Kerry was the 2004 Dem nominee, and he is going around the country acting like the senior Democratic statesman. He's not some renegade congressman, and can't be dismissed as the village idiot. Now, after the President speaks, all the other Dems in Congress and running for Congress will have to chose sides: "Do they agree with Kerry's remarks?"

In Kerry's mind, BUSH is the "Village Idiot", and so is ANYONE who supports him. Some folks honestly believe that Kerry was talking about the US Military. At the very least, EVERY ELECTED DEMOCRAT in the ENTIRE NATION should be given an opportunity to CLARIFY how they feel about the education level and intellectual competence of those brave men and women who are serving in Iraq.

For months, the Dems and MSM have been hammering the point: Mark Foley, a RETIRED Congressperson of very little note wrote a couple of wink wink nudge nudge messages to someone who was legally an adult. Foley resigned immediately, but that wasn't good enough. The Dems wanted the SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE TO RESIGN, a CRIMINAL investigation, and opined that the Republicans would lose FIFTY SEATS IN CONGRESS because of this.

A couple years back, Dems took issue with SIXTEEN WORDS in Bush's State of The Union Address, which were PERFECTLY TRUE. Because Bush uttered these 16 words, Joe Wilson was catapulted to Rock Star status, Scooter Libby had to resign in disgrace, and Karl Rove & Dick Cheney have been under a cloud of possible indictment every Fitzmas.

Dems have had George Allen on the ropes for months because one person, who is a political operative for the Democrat party, asserts that 30 years ago, he once heard Allen utter a naughty word. There is a further assertion that he stuffed dead animal parts into the mailbox of a black person, though there is NO EVIDENCE that such an incident EVER occured.

For a freakin' week I've been hearing that RUSH LIMBAUGH HATES people with TERMINAL DISEASES. I've heard that LYNN CHENEY writes PORN. I've watched CNN solicit SNUFF VIDEOS from ISLAMO-FASCIST TERRORISTS and call it "journalism". So pardon me if I'm a bit skeptical over the MSM's ability to be an honest broker in a debate over who said what.

Kerry can cry me a river if he doesn't like what he's getting. I'm sick to death of this parsing. "I hate the commander of chief and the secretary of defense and all of the field generals and officers on the ground in Iraq, and everyone who supports the military is a brainwashed idiot who dropped out of school, but I support the troops and how dare you question my patriotism." Screw it. I DON'T CARE to give J. Freakin' Ketchup ONE BIT of the benefit of the doubt. I hope the Dems lose, and they lose big. I hope the Republicans GAIN seats in the house and Senate. And I hope EVERYONE ON GOD'S GREEEN EARTH blames J.F. Kerry for the entire thing.

This principle applies only when the general public (in this case, swing voters) is aware that he IS the village idiot. In this case, slapping the village idiot around brings to the attention of swing voters for the first time the fact that this guy they thought was a local sage really is the VI.

That is a valuable service to perform...
