Normally I would say you are right, but Kerry was the 2004 Dem nominee, and he is going around the country acting like the senior Democratic statesman. He's not some renegade congressman, and can't be dismissed as the village idiot. Now, after the President speaks, all the other Dems in Congress and running for Congress will have to chose sides: "Do they agree with Kerry's remarks?"

Put Kerry up against Lynn Cheney. She would call him a traitor to his face.

And that is the beauty of it. As the 2004 nominee he will attract attention, and he has just done something incredibly stupid. Can you think of anyone else in the entire Democratic party less capable of explaining his way out of the situation than John Kerry? The man is a goofball. A complete idiot. Left to his own devices he can do nothing but make the situation worse for himself, and all I'm saying is that we should sit back and let him do it.
