Chilling (Soros’ behavior during the Holocaust)

Chilling

That’s the only word for the glimpse into the mind of George Soros provided by Steve Croft of 60 Minutes in an interview broadcast last night. Steve Gilbert of Sweetness & Light does an excellent job of highlighting and commenting on a partial transcript of the interview, concerning Soros’ behavior during the Holocaust in Hungary, when he was a 14 year old Jewish boy posing as a Christian.

KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. Yes.

KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. That’s right. Yes.

KROFT: I mean, that’s—that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?

Mr. SOROS: Not-not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child you don’t you don’t see the connection. But it was it created no-no problem at all.

KROFT: No feeling of guilt?

Mr. SOROS: No.

KROFT: For example that, ‘I’m Jewish and here I am, watching these people go. I could just as easily be there. I should be there.’ None of that?

Mr. SOROS: Well, of course I c--I could be on the other side or I could be the one from whom the thing is being taken away. But there was no sense that I shouldn't be there, because that was--well, actually, in a funny way, it's just like in markets--that if I weren't there--of course, I wasn't doing it, but somebody else would--would--would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the--whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the--I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt..

Of course most of us here are already aware of Mr. Soros’ highly questionable actions during the Nazi occupation. (Though the public at large undoubtedly has a different perspective, if they know anything about his earlier days at all.)

But the statements he made in this interview to my mind are quite chilling. He forgives himself everything. He says that if he hadn’t done it somebody else would have.

All of which would seem to indicate that Mr. Soros has no conscience. A lack of conscience is said to be a common symptom of sociopaths.

Soros is convicted fraudster.

His manipulation of monetary funds in the late 90's certainly caused enough misery for those "poor" he pretends to care for [more fraud]. He repeatedly tries to justify his youthful rejection of his Jewish heritage by opposing Israel and today's Jewish State. Of course, Soro's support of the confiscation by the state of individual wealth and property is perfectly in line with his past.

Of course Soros has his defenders. He was "just a teen" at the time. He was "just following orders" and all that.

But - lefties will be lefties!

Sociopath is the modern term we use to describe what used to be called "evil".

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

I'm well aware of that. I am also aware of the semantics involved. The left has been slowly whitewashing morality and right and wrong out of our lexicon. Sociopath is not synonymous with evil. It is a euphemism designed to deflect blame and reprisal. We don't have to burn witches at the stake, but similarly we don't have to use humanistic jargon to give these devils a license to kill. By the way, abortion is just the term we modern folk use to describe the killing of babies.

ROMAN POLANSKI (i knew the name would come to mind sooner or later!) was a survivor of Auschwitz,

Polanski was never in Auschwitz. His mother died there, but Roman, aged 10, escaped from the Krakow ghetto and made it to the countryside, where a Polish farmer hid him through the rest of the war, although he had to sleep in the barn.

Hmm... I kind of wonder if the Christopher Plummer character in Spike Lee's Inside Man was maybe based a little bit on Soros?

You mean the movie where, at then end, Plummers character had pictures of the Bush family and Ronald Reagan behind him in his office in Spike's ham-fisted attempt to connect Republicans to the greatest evil ever perpetrated?

Thanks so much for setting the record straight. (BTW -- my family loved that movie!)

I only saw the movie once, but as I recall, there were politicians from both parties represented (maybe JFK?). Certainly there were more pubbies, but some dems, too.

Soros is a self-hating creep who wants to destroy the USA and Israel. He needs a team of shrinks.

Methinks he needs much much more than that!! And when one considers how many enemies he's made over the years he may soon get what he deserves.

Yet - he has his fans. At DU, Daily Kos and ClownPosse. Of course some clowns will tell you that they don't agree with him on everything... - which then begs the question, on what DO they agree with him?? Hmmmmm??? Or maybe it's just a case of FR Derangement Syndrome, a la the Dixie Chicks.

Dang veronica -- I don't know where I've been -- I didn't know this about Soros. Chilling is right. This exchange particularly...

KROFT: No feeling of guilt?

Mr. SOROS: No.

That oughta scare any thinking person. Course, those folks you mentioned aren't all that good at thinking I guess!

I doubt George knows you, or FR, but if he did, he wouldn’t like either of you. My enemies enemies, after all.

Hard to judge a 14 year old in those circumstances, I’m not at all convinced of DTA’s (DTA, see below) charges he was a party member.

However his reflections on his youth indicate a “I did what I had to to survive”, one filled with pride rather than regret, attitude that is reminiscent of the “I was following orders” defense. Sociopath works for me.

In my post above, 41, I noted what some his age were up to at the time.

Another example comes to mind.

At age 14 Josef Ratzinger joined Hitler Youth. Not much of a choice for a 14 year old in 1941 Germany. I’ll accept the Soros excuse in that context, George did face death after all.

But even then Josef Ratzinger recognized evil, he was drafted, serve in an anti aircraft unit, then was transferred to a unit in HUNGRY where he witnessed Jews rounded up for transport to the camps. Same time, same place, Soros rounded up their property.

Josef Ratzinger deserted his unit, Soros did his “job”.

Today, and that’s what’s relevant, Ratzinger recognizes evil, he did then, and Soros is Soros.

-------------------

DTA, the ping was a courtesy only since you were mentioned, I’m not interested in distraction. I’m not convinced Soros was a party member, nor a member of Arrow Cross. If he wasn’t, he’s a sleaze. If he was, my guess there may be some immigration issues, he’s a naturalized citizen. I’d explore that avenue, get the information to the Justice Department.

And do you realize by considering Soros a sleaze, I'm in agreement with Abe Foxman! Of course Abe calls him obscene, not a sleaze, but it's the same thing.
