Down in the polls and with their majorities in Congress at risk, Republicans say they have some good news in early-voting statistics that suggest their voter-turnout machine is providing an edge in some tight races.
If the trend holds, it could mean that early voting is growing -- and continuing to benefit Republicans, who exploited the practice in the 1990s. Experts say early voters could be a bigger factor this year when overall voter turnout could be lower than in 2004, a presidential-election year.

Early voting ALWAYS favors the Republicans.
Democrats can't be bothered to actually make the extra effort and planning to vote early or absentee... They gotta wait until the bus from the DNC picks them up, they get their pack of cigarettes and bottle of 'Mad Dog' from the handlers and led by the hand to the booth and told which buttons to push.
Are we all really in for a major November surprise when the drive by media all are forced to report a Republican victory?
Of course there will be boatloads of excuses - and riots, no doubt, from the sore loserman "only democrats are allowed to steal elections" crowd.
I think we need to hold the drive by media accountable for the violence that they hav incited by their false reporting and anti-GOP news manufacturing, which has led democrats to think they will win. If Mel Gibson was to be held responsible for the wave of anti-semitic riots resulting from his telling of the gospel in "The Passion" (as the leftists all whined - though there was never even one such anti-semitic incident), then it is only fair that George Steponallofus and Kutie Khourric are held accountable for the leftist riots that will come next Wednesday.
Please tell your defeatocrat "friends" and relatives that they'll be voting on November 8th this year...
Well, I must be regarded as one of the early voters in this cycle. I voted a straight Republican ticket in California, (with the exception of Steve Poizner, who's not a Republican really).
Any conservative or Republican who thinks they're proving or doing anything good by sitting out this election are simply not thinking things through. Get out there and vote. The Democrats would be far, far worse than anything the GOP have done or been.
With the exception of the very first time I voted after I turned 18, I've always voted early or absentee.
Ha, I knew it. The polls are bogus. I believe the trend will hold til the returns are all in. I can't wait til the day after and all the Demonrats show up to work with red eyes and hoarse voices from crying all night. I will graciously contain my glee.

One thing I can say is that I was the only 20-something in the line voting today, which is generally a good thing for Republicans. I don't think "kids" my age think ahead much about things like voting.
All the better. Let the working world have a few more days to find the perfect time in the calender to vote.
Well, I know in our neck of the woods, we had a really aggressive campaign to get R's and Indep leaning R's (who had not previously voted absentee) to request absentee ballots. We beat the dems badly in this area--our absentee requests were up way more than theirs. So don't discount it.
I'm not a natural pessimist, but this election will probably result in gains for Dems. However if they don't win enough to assume control of congress, look for more paranoid theories about voting machines being rigged and "minorities" being intimidated. One more failed election and many members of the Donkey Party might go full bore loco. Heres hoping.
I voted last week. I almost pushed my finger through the touch screen, so forcefully I vote R.
