Camden, Trenton, and Newark from the Garden State. I don't know, I guess Patterson and Elizabeth are slacking off or something. Is it just me or do these towns all have certain demographics in common. In fact, culturally, I bet all these towns have more in common than not, despite the geographic spread.

Just musing ... being near Baltimore, I wonder how many of these Mayors are running for Governor in their respective states.
Martin O'Malley, Mayor of Balltimore, wants to do for Maryland what he has done for Baltimore.
Under his guidance, we might just be able to chase Iraq war news off the front page.
Which makes me wonder how Baghdad might fare in the list...

Some interesting cities in the top 36 safest. You have to get to 300 to find NY's *bigger* cities-outside NYC that is.

Cone on Orlando! We're not trying hard enough! Why, with the Florida "Stand your Ground" law being enacted, we were widely reported as becoming the "Wild, Wild East." Foreign countries were on the verge of issuing advisories.
What happened??? Clearly our 25th place finish shows that we're not trying hard enough. Why, it's almost as if the new law was a deterrent in a large metropolitan area. Whoda thunk it?

This is a pretty meaningless list. "Only cities that release crime stats are included." Chicago is a pretty big city to leave out altogether. So you have a bunch of cities that no one has ever heard of (Brick, New Jersey?!) at both ends of the scale, and not a single city from a large state (Illinois) makes a list of 300.

Let's call it for what it is. All of these cities have large black populations and the violence is primarily black on black crime. Where are the self appointed black leaders and how are they helping to stop this? Between the abortion rate and the amount of young people being killed there is a something akin to a genocide happening here.

This list says Montgomery, AL is safer than Chattanooga, TN. Having lived in both cities in recent years, I'd have to strenuously object.

All solid Democrat-run cities. And these losers want to govern the country. They should be designated as disaster areas, and this after the nation has wasted SEVEN TRILLION tax dollars "rehabilitating" these corrupt cesspools since LBJ's lost "war on poverty."
To: mcg2000
To suggest that these cities crime rate has anything to do with their racial demographics would be extremely politically incorrect and anyone making such a claim would be instantly branded a racist or a bigot, so I will remain silent on the subject.
By the way, a good definition of politically correct is To insist that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by its clean end.

Michigan has 2 two cities that rank 2nd and 3rd most dangerous in a liberal democratic controlled State!
How many of these dangerous cities are liberally controlled?
If there is any evidence and proof that liberal-progressive democratic policies are a failure, just look at all of the cities controlled by the democrats that are crime ridden and dangerous to live in and do business in.
Tell me again liberal democrats about how we don't have a plan for the peace in Iraq, while you cannot even control the crime and dangers in their own cities!

Only cities that reported crime rates were included in the list. For example, New Orleans was not included this year because its police department did not report figures. ...and it would have really blown the curve.
