Yes I am like a lot of conservatives and have not been very impressed with the performance of the Republicans on issues like illegal immigration, controlling government spending, and waging a war in IRAQ that is too politically correct and with not enough force and vigor.
But I am voting straight R's in 2006 and am staying the course with the Republican party
Why?
To sit it out and hoping to punish the Republicans is not an objective way to address the above concerns. If the Democrats take power its just going to make these issues get even worse than ever. We all need to band together and keep working these issues to our satisfaction within the Republican party for its the only vehicle that we have. We can address these issues but these things take time and hard work. I see that yes there is some movement forward on the illegals issue with the fence bill that has recently been signed. At least it did not have any amnesty issues in it for it was all about securing the borders. I also vehemently disagree with Bush on the guest worker issue but we have got to realize that he is only going to be president for only 2 more years and its going to take probably longer than that to win the fight against illegal immigration. We need to continue the pressure in Congress with a Republican majority to keep the presidents ambitions of guest workers and amnesty in check.
Also the same can be said of fighting against out of control federal spending.
We also need to commit to long term support of the Republican party to get a more aggessive adminstration in power that does not fight wars piecemeal like Rumsfield and the Bush administration have done.
I sympathize with the angry conservatives for I agree with their anger and concern but you have just got to take the emotions out and look at this objectively and that is a conservative strength we should nourish and support. Also have had many disagreements with the hard core Bush supporters on FR.
This is all about winning in the long term and letting the RATS slip in to punish the Republicans and "get their attention" is going to set us back for decades.
So what I am asking is please throttle back the anger and consider this in a objective manner for we can the "R" party back on the right track with enough effort. We need to stay committed to the Republicans in 06 and focus on the primaries in 08 and get rid of some of these RINOS that infest the party.
This is not about winning a battle its about winning the war in the long term. I always love the quote by Calvin Coolidge "Persistance is omnipotent to Success"
God Bless all of you whether you agree or disagree
Kind Regards DN
Or...maybe relief after constipation?? Ha! LOL! Have a great day! DN
Disgruntled? Yup. Stupid? Nope. But then it really does not matter here in the People Republic of Los Angeles. Still waiting to be liberated.
You know I forgot another reason in my original editorial and that is the entertainment factor!! I love to see shrieky liberals not get their way and gnash their teeth and whine!! Thanks! DN
Nice post! Overall I still very greatful we got W instead of Skerry!! Best Wishes to you!! DN
Not knowing the candidates I can only leave it to you. I do understand the particular problems in some states, although my experience has been that when RINOs run, the Dem opponent is a leftwing extremist - for example, in OH, its DeWine (RINO) versus Sherrod Brown a Dennis Kucinich style far-left anti-Patriot act pro-higher taxes liberal.
I used to live in Illinois. Lynn Martin, remember her? She had a run against Paul Simon. Got nowhere though. Illinois has had the problem that the GOP traditional strength was up north and traditional Dem strength was a mix of south and chicago. The 'south' Dems are conservative. So I can see how in Illinois certain Democrats might make it through the primary that are somewhat conservative - BUT, you have Tubin' Durbin and Obamaram ... c'mon, big liberals there!
If you let the state go DEM it inevitably goes Liberal.
They redraw lines for Dems, and before you know it you
are in blue state hell.
So even though a pro-gun Dem candidate may pop up,
all the pro-gun folks should be in the GOP to start with!
The GOP RINOs have consistently failed to see that a conservative (on social issues) can win in Illinois by fusing the two. BUT IT IS NOT EASY. Look also to Pennsylvania... in PA for example Casey Jr is a transparent liberal phony, and an empty suit, who makes a few pro-life noises, but is the lockstep tool of schumer, hillary and kennedy. It's easy to tell that the only conservative choice in PA race is Santorum.
It only works if you have a candidate who has both social conservative and economic conservative credentials, even if it is a bit of both.
if the social conservative/pro-gun/rural voters and the suburban/moderate/fiscal conservative voters can line up behind a common conservative candidate, its a win/win.
If the RINOs are trying to force a non-conservative on GOP voters, I can understand the reluctance.
"The conservatives in the Republican party actually won the primary, but split the vote between two strongly conservative candidates. "
Step #1: GET RUNOFFS FOR PRIMARIES! We do it in Texas.
It's interesting that the top vote getter is not always the one who wins the runoff.
Step #2: GET CONSERVATIVES TO WIN THEM!
I think you are right most GOPers even if they are not totally seeing issues worked to their satisfaction are staying cool headed and thinking of the long term big picture.
I just want us to see the GOP get every possible vote they can. Thanks DN
Very true if you can perceive success and stick at it with a vigorous determination its very achievable. Regards! DN
You wouldn't have to be ranting and raving like this if you and all the "Republicans" would quit taking the conservative community (oh how I dislike that "communutty" word) for granted time after time on issue after issue.
Plus, would you "Republicans" consistently act like the partisans you pretend to be and quit 1.)Sucking up to the left-wing MSM... 2.)Sucking up to the Washington D.C. non-elected establishment... 3.)Sucking up to your opposition and wanting them to like and respect you as equals...
It's gotten so embarrassing that although I still vote Republican in 99% of votes, I registered "Decline to State" a party preference because you jackasses can't even stand by your platform either nationally, or in CA, the great state of!!!
The only reason I'd ever be tempted to completely by-pass an election is from shear embarrassment!!! Your guys and gals hafta give people something to vote for that we can be proud of.
You'll have to admit that recently there haven't been too many inspiring incidents of actual leadership to cause people to crawl across broken glass to get to the polling place and vote for pleasing "Republicans!" Not if you're honest!!!
"I don't care how "conservative" a Dem says he/she is; I'll not vote for anyone who is so low on scruples they can align themselves with the low-life, amoral, mean-spirited, baby-killing, gay marriage loving, Marxist DEMOCRAT PARTY."
I feel that way as well... If a girl promises she's a virgin but lives in a whorehouse, are you gonna believe it?
You have to pick your spots. In Illinois we have a corrupt liberal Chicago ward boss son-in-law and former Congressman Rod Blagoevich running against current social liberal with ties to corrupt Republicans like George Ryan and former house minority leader Lee Daniels. Her name is Judy Baar Topinka.
The Combine which is a mix of Republican and Democrat powerbrokers that divy up resources and govt jobs in this state support both of these candidates.
So many Conservatives will be writing in Retired Marine Corps Veteran Randy Stufflebeam www.runrandyrun.com. He is not tied to corruption and left the Republican Party in Illinois because they have forgotten Conservative voters.
If it's a House or Senate race that can effect leadership of the entire country and the Pelosi gang . You can vote against a safe seat Republican who has not done right. If it's a tight race unless he or she has some corruption or something similar to Mark Foley then I would vote to keep them.
And on the issue of the GOP spending too much
1. the deficit has been decreasing by huge numbers the last few years. So how do we have record government spending with tax cuts and 2 necessary wars against radical Islam? The deficit was much larger during world war 2 and this threat is much greater as there are 50+ Islamic countries while there was only a few axis powers.
2. Deficit for 2006 is 1.9% of GDP which is less than the average for the last 30 years.
3. Most spending is mandatory like Social security , Medicare, Medicaid etc. Bush did try to partially privatize social security but the RINOS, Democrats and the Democrat media stopped him.
4. The democrats are calling for less cuts in Medicaid and voted against them. The democrats are calling for more spending on education, welfare, Medicaid, social programs , embryonic stem cell research. But the Democrat media says the Republicans are the big spenders.
5. Anyone can play with statistics and not take into account the war of civilizations we are in, inflation, population growth , growth of the economy, etc. to make the Republicans look like the big spenders.
6. On cutting spending the Republicans have to fight the Democrats, the media and RINOS just like they fought and lost on social security privatization, Drilling in An-war, tough border enforcement bill that passed the House but was stopped in the Senate, etc. 7. the solution to cutting spending more (discretionary domestic spending is down) is to elect more conservative Republicans in place of the RINOS and gain an overwhelming conservative majority not to elect socialist big government Democrats.
So these points expose the lies of the Democrat media.
Great post, no dems!
Thanks.
Best Wishes to you, too.
Hi SierraWasp!
I totally agree we have work to do internally with the Republican party to get some serious issues addressed. You are preaching to the choir on that one :-)
Lets just not make matters even worst by allowing the RATS to gain control and lets focus on doing some cleansing of the party for 2008
Thanks and have a great day! DN
Absolutely IslandJeff and despite some internal issues with the party we also represent the pro-life wing of America
IMHO God is on our side and we represent what is right and just for humanity.
Thanks DN
Hi rurgan I agree with your points for one of the hallmarks of the Republican policy has been the tax cuts and their driving the growth of the economy has driven up tax revenues to offset the deficit.
I want us to drive success for the Republicans in 06 and after that lets work at lowering government spending and pork like the tranportation bill that was passed this year which was one stuffed little piggy.
And I know I am preaching to the choir here but again we must maintain Republican control so we can have the ability to strive for improvements.
Thanks for a good post and you take care..Kind Regards DN
Babies...Guns...Jobs & Schools Thievery...Israel...Judges...Defense & Foreign Policy...

I think President Bush ranks up with the greatest Presidents!
