Yes I am like a lot of conservatives and have not been very impressed with the performance of the Republicans on issues like illegal immigration, controlling government spending, and waging a war in IRAQ that is too politically correct and with not enough force and vigor.
But I am voting straight R's in 2006 and am staying the course with the Republican party
Why?
To sit it out and hoping to punish the Republicans is not an objective way to address the above concerns. If the Democrats take power its just going to make these issues get even worse than ever. We all need to band together and keep working these issues to our satisfaction within the Republican party for its the only vehicle that we have. We can address these issues but these things take time and hard work. I see that yes there is some movement forward on the illegals issue with the fence bill that has recently been signed. At least it did not have any amnesty issues in it for it was all about securing the borders. I also vehemently disagree with Bush on the guest worker issue but we have got to realize that he is only going to be president for only 2 more years and its going to take probably longer than that to win the fight against illegal immigration. We need to continue the pressure in Congress with a Republican majority to keep the presidents ambitions of guest workers and amnesty in check.
Also the same can be said of fighting against out of control federal spending.
We also need to commit to long term support of the Republican party to get a more aggessive adminstration in power that does not fight wars piecemeal like Rumsfield and the Bush administration have done.
I sympathize with the angry conservatives for I agree with their anger and concern but you have just got to take the emotions out and look at this objectively and that is a conservative strength we should nourish and support. Also have had many disagreements with the hard core Bush supporters on FR.
This is all about winning in the long term and letting the RATS slip in to punish the Republicans and "get their attention" is going to set us back for decades.
So what I am asking is please throttle back the anger and consider this in a objective manner for we can the "R" party back on the right track with enough effort. We need to stay committed to the Republicans in 06 and focus on the primaries in 08 and get rid of some of these RINOS that infest the party.
This is not about winning a battle its about winning the war in the long term. I always love the quote by Calvin Coolidge "Persistance is omnipotent to Success"
God Bless all of you whether you agree or disagree
Kind Regards DN
If the Dems don't win control of The House this year, there will an around the clock suicide watch at the DNC.
C'mon; let's get out and vote and bring the DemocRATs to their knees; for something other than doing naughties.
I don't care how "conservative" a Dem says he/she is; I'll not vote for anyone who is so low on scruples they can align themselves with the low-life, amoral, mean-spirited, baby-killing, gay marriage loving, Marxist DEMOCRAT PARTY.
If they identify with the 'Rats; hasta la vista baby!!!
Ref. Post #21.
I don't think they will take it as a "sign" that the base is happy with their performance.
I think they've learned their lesson. If not, to avoid this situation in the future, we need to defeat them in the Primaries. And, it can be done. Ask RINO Schwartz from Western Michigan.
Too many people still don't get it, you cannot be independent in this day and age and people need to get off the fence and declare themselves and support our country.
That is true.. If you want to get rid of Rinos, do it in the primaries... It can be done...
Define the "independent voter". Negative campaigning always reduces turnout (one of those Atwater/Morris maxims), and the Independent (who, presumably, has no actual values to stand on) really has no reason to come out this year.
What we're up against is the mediacracy. They're showing themselves as blatantly partisan, and I'd like to think most Americans can see through it.
Not even all Repubs are FReepers, at least yet. It's our job to GOTV.
"I find much more to vote for Republicans than to vote against them, or even deny them my vote. I'm happy for the greatly lowered tax burden, original intent jurists, and a foreign policy which faces the challenges of national security head on, rather than sticking their head in the sand."
I agree ... but there are also many good reasons to NOT want the Democrats anywhere near the levers of power ...
Yes, the MSM is showing their bias like they have never done in my lifetime... and there is a lot of people who do not declare allegiance to either party and usually sit out the mid-term election; however, we don't know how they are being affected by the media onslaught. We won't know how the onslaught has affected this election until the night of November 7th.
Become a political evangelical! Work a GOP phone bank or doorbell!
[Says Jeff, who lazily just gives hundreds of dollars to candidates...]
It'll all work out.
Actually, here in Illinois, there was a race between a Democrat (Glen Poshard) and a Republican (George Ryan). I voted for the Republican.
The Democrat was pro-NRA (and conceal carry) and pro-death penalty. The Republican had said he was pro-death penalty but basically mum on that and other things. The "Republican" won, with my help.
When George Ryan was rumored to be going to prison for a license-for-money scandal, he let over a 100 people off death row, garnering liberal love and a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.
He's been found guilty and faces many years in prison
We have never had conceal-carry. Glen Poshard was thought to be a decent man.
The Democrat who is now our governor is also looking at a corruption scandal. Our Republican challenger (the former chairman of the Republican party) Judy Barr Topinka, verbally chastised and constantly disdained the former nomination of conservative Alan Keyes for a Senate run after losing our Republican (potential RINO) candidate, Jack Ryan, to an alleged sex scandal (he was married to Jeri Ryan from Star Trek). We now have Barak Obama for our Senator.
Politics is a funny thing. We had a Democrat headline at the 2004 RNC conference. In Illinois, some Democrats are more conservative than our RINO Republicans.
With Judy Baar Topinka running, no true conservative is happy to vote for her. As a result, her poll numbers are grossly below the incumbent Democrat governor (who is likely to be in court, soon).
I don't know if I will vote for her or stand out that vote while voting for all the rest. If our Democratic governor, "Blago", stays in, he may be arrested while in office. What a wonderful thing that would be!
Judy's with him on every campaign point save for one I know of. She announced this week that she is pro-death penalty. Why it took so long, I don't know. It may just be that she is trying to finally appeal to the conservatives she p-ssed off in the past, knowing she can't really appeal to Democrats over Rod. But as a Republican, she ought to know that.
The conservatives in the Republican party actually won the primary, but split the vote between two strongly conservative candidates. She came in with a few points more than the second place challenger. If the third place challenger hadn't stolen 20% of the vote due, in part, to pride issues and a lie about internal polling, a few points would have allowed a real choice here between a decent conservative and a liberal.
With two liberals running, do I vote for the one who berated conservatives for years or the one who respects them but thinks the same on issues as the RINO?
By the way, the current Democratic governor did something more conservative in his first year than any Republican governor ever in the history of Illinois. Rod didn't just put a moratorium on government spending, HE TOOK 8% OF ALREADY SPENT AND ALLOCATED DOLLARS BACK FROM THE BUDGETS OF MANY STATE AGENCIES IN MID-YEAR! That took some real balls.
So, how would you vote?
What you said!
Thank you for your feedback I just want to try to help and advance the conservative agenda based on discussions that have been going on for a long time on FR.
Have a wonderful day! :-) DN
Yea! and good for you! Hey I love your tagline on the MSM!! Have a great day!! DN
Great minds think alike and thanks for the confirm! Regards DN
Kill Machine Politics. Neither party benefits from lightweight, easily-elected "deserving". Mayor Daley, you might notice, only went so far in the Dem camp, though he sure raised hell in 1972.
I just want all of our pieces of glass to weld together and spear the Democrats! Thanks DN
You are right Bush has been good for us in a lot of areas, and I want us to fight together to keep Republicans in control of the Congress and to have a solid conservative president elected in 2008. Thanks! DN
We're gonna do it. Why? Because we tell the truth.
And prayer will help us a lot.
I know the only time this conservative grunts and groans is when I listed to the Anti American bilge from the MSM and the RATS! I want to see these loosers sorely dissapointed after election day and crying in their beer! LOL! Regards DN
