The results of Public Opinion Strategies latest tracking poll is in, and it has Lt. Governor nominee Tom McClintock up 4-points.
The survey, conducted over the last few nights with a sample of 800, has Tom up 39-35 with 15% undecided.
Further, of those whove already voted, Toms up even bigger: 43-35.
And despite attacks against him, Toms overall image rating remains in the neighborhood of 3:1, with his negatives still in the teens.
Last, of those left undecided, Toms image rating stands higher than Garamendis.
Going down to the wire, Tom stands in a great position to win.
See post 117.
I don't necessarily object to the Main Street Republicans as a whole, especially in iffy districts (like all 3 Conneticuit districts), it's more that I object to Mary because she's in a safe district, as well as the fact that she's a Scientologist.
I'm actually pretty open minded in the sense that I'm not one of those people who wouldn't vote for a Mormon or anything like that, but Scientology is just simply such a complete and obvious scam, built on ego more then anything, I just have to question the judgement of anybody who would ever buy into it even a little.
Sounds like a flake. Too bad.
"Why do I get the feeling you are pained to write that post?"
Don't know ... Same as I've been saying all along -
helping him inadvertently? lol"
Thought that was funny myself - Tom would not be there if Arnold didn't want him there, and Tom finally realized that winning is better then losing.
"He could have a presidential ticket in his future someday and he'd be incredible... wow."
It will be interesting to see what he's able to accomplish first.
At least there are righteous reasons to be upset about the untoward acts signed into law by A.S. at the bidding of the preverted Dems!!! Git over it, will ya???
Arnold changed the landscape and just maybe has made being a Republican not the knee-jerk NO WAY to CA voters. Yes he's not the conservative McClintock is (understatement) but they *are* running as a "ticket."
Think of it as Reagan not getting the GOP nomination in '76. That worked out.
We'll see how it plays in just over a week.
Moving the CAGOP from the MSM slanderous misuse of Wilson/187 has been an element of my positive argument for Arnold (since the recall days).
I'm enthused that the smears be Garamendi haven't seemed to worked. Consider me cautiously optimistic.
Boxer will have a mammoth war chest. If we really want to take her down, it'll require more than just the right candidate although that will help a great deal.
Tom is an impressive guy who stands by his principles. The press savaged him during the recall, but I was struck by how smart, funny and carismatic he is in person.
He has a remarkable tolerance for other perspectives, based upon his deep understanding of history, democracy and freedom. In that sense, I believe his views, while conservative, come close to the states desire for principled and non-conformist leaders.
If Tom wins , it's because those folks who liked him before still do and some new folks have acquired a taste for him as well... I don't buy the coattail effect anymore than I buy a lot of the poll-mania so many get caught up in..
You may well see Tom getting more total votes than the Gub Republican vote-wise, certainly conservative-wise .. it's too bad Tom doesn't have the connections with big bucks like the Gub , but that's the breaks.. at least the Indians seem to like both of them this go-around..
I just found that thread this morning. I finished my votes on the judicial section. Whew, I got a headache.
Thanks. Have a great weekend.
Thank you. My picks for retention matched theirs. I got some help from other freepers and finished my ballot this morning. Your info gave me another avenue to make sure I was picking the right judges. I'll remember to check this website in future elections.
Again, thanks and have a great weekend.
It is not "impudent" to point out that not only is there no governor's mansion, but Arnold accepts no salary.
Many are not aware of that fact.
How does the final tally separate who voted how?
We've been told there is no way to tell.
They used to have that info available.. if not,, then I guess we'll never know how many dems voted for the Gub but not Tom.. or Mountjoy. :)
I wish those stats were available!
Would be very interesting and helpful for the candidates.
I agree, I'm doing some digging right now, I don't think the state complies the info , but recall seeing some pretty good breakdowns altho it has been a few years or more since last seeing it in great detail. independent orgs have usually been tasked to provide that kind of specificity if I'm not mistaken. I'll let ya know what I find.. or don't. ;-)
Great picture. That's the Tom McClintock I know.
You're lucky! Everyone who knows him says he has a GREAT sense of humor.
