RICHMOND, Virginia (CNN) -- A bitter Senate campaign entering its final stretch turned uglier Friday, as a Republican incumbent pulled up sexual passages from novels written by his Democratic opponent, who called the move baseless character assassination.
In a news release and list of quotes posted Friday on the Drudge Report Web site, Sen. George Allen, R-Virginia, accused his opponent, former Navy Secretary Jim Webb, of "demeaning women" and "dehumanizing women, men and even children" through his fiction writings. At least two of the listed passages include children in sexual situations.

At least two of the listed passages include children in sexual situations. Wait a minute. One of those wasn't sexual, according to Webb.
Must be using some Clintonian definition of "sexual", methinks...

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee sent out a news release Friday pointing to sexual passages in books by other GOP conservatives, including Dick Cheney's former chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. How many of these people are running for the Senate?

LOL! Assassination......and the bullets are Webb's own words.

I don't know how much more filth and dirt I can handle in one day let alone from BOTH Webb and CNN. I am going to have to clean out my local drug store of all their cleaning supplies.
Looking @ Webb and Reading CNN really makes me feel dirty.
I am hoping that FoxNews, Rush, Sean Hanitty and O'Reilly picks up on this so the story gets legs. I don't trust the MSM because you know as well as I, they will spin it to make Allen look bad, and God forbid, Webb look like a victim!

Not if the MSM continues to ignore the story. I haven't yet seen a reference to this in the Wash Post or Richmond Times Dispatch, or the network affiliates in NoVa.
Plenty of Bush-bashing and non-news analysis articles on things like "what shaped Webb" on the front page, however.

I'm sure CNN knows the story will get out and it's time to do damage control. How unfair it is to quote an artist, whose books enlighten us to the unusual customs of the world, they serve the purpose of travel guides, and are uplifting; they're belles lettres, after all. Yes, and we should all want our kids to read this garbage too. We shouldn't mind the money Webb gets from Larry Flynt or Ms. Heffner, or the Hollyweirdos. They're all just artist, making no larger point with their topics.

books by other GOP conservatives, including Dick Cheney's former chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. First I've heard of the Gingrich writings. If true, I suppose that puts the nail in his coffin regarding Pres. ambitions.
I just can't imagine Ronald Reagan or George Bush writing anything approaching garbage.

"How unfair it is to quote an artist, whose books enlighten us to the unusual customs of the world..." Unless the novelist has asked Mark Fuhrman's help for realism with street-cop jargon.

me too, you know what they're talking about?
The Democrats biggest problem, is that they don't really see anything wrong with this type of "intellectual" literary flair.
