Don't like the GOP using feminist sounding commercials one bit.
Agreed. It could come back to bite Senator Allen later, as well, when he wants to make a proper vote on feminist legislation.

The tailhook part doesn't matter. It's the "horny woman's dream" comment that might stick.

Funny how Webb and the strategists are screaming foul, smear tactics, Americans aren't concerned about these kind of dirty politics! This Foley thing seems to have backfired. Yet another good snicker ;D!

"The Naval Academy is a horny woman's dream"??
Ecch. This goes beyond "feminism". I knew Webb was a macho man but this comment is way improper. There are young women buried in the cemetery of the US Naval Academy. There are funerals almost daily for young women who have died in military service to America.

Depends on where he said it. If he said it to a drinking buddy and it was overheard, its fine with me. If he said it in an official position, then his judgement disqualifies him

Remember the skanks that were going after the navy over tailhook? Allen should not be hitching his wagon to that crap.

The Republicans are sending out some great ads- Ford's "call me " and now this.
On the MSNBC clip the Democrat woman is clearly distressed and the Republican woman is calm and serene which speaks volumes.
MSNBC says that McCain's book blurb is dispensation for Dirty Jim's writings. Desperately trying to move on.
Hard to look at Webb for too long-he's more Botoxed than Kerry.

Ah, so hyprocrisy is A-OK with you. Tell the truth to your drinking buddies as long as you cover your beliefs when you speak to the public.
If the boss says you're a great asset to his company and then goes to a bar and tells his drinking friend you are an idiot, you're OK with having him for a boss.

That ad is aimed at Democratic women.
I know who it was aimed at, that's why I called the advertisement cynical. It may do what it is meant to do. But once you start pushing the "Oh, you are thinking like 1806" as if styles, philosophies and ideologies can only improve over time, you open yourself to attack whenevr someone introduces a new and bad idea.
And psychological differences between men and women are one of many reasons that women shuld not be allowed in military combat. I hope no one thinks of Senator Allen whether women should be in combat roles. After he states no, he will have to give a reason.
The ad should do what it is meant to do. I am not against negative ads, but I don't like Republicans playing that Howard Dean game of pretending we are something we aren't (namely, feminists).

Bad analogy. Here's a better one: Boss tells the me & the rest of the employees at a company meeting to watch ourselves because sexual harrassment will not be tolerated.
Then later, he tells me over a beer that the secretary is a delicious babe.

I don't think that pissant was suggesting covering up beliefs, I think he was talking about proper consuct and decorum.
Private conversation with drinking buddy: "That is a horny woman's dream"
Public speech addressing same issue: "Military training is a time of preparation for our young officers. Co-educational training can often be a distraction to preparing for the mission. (start citing pragnancy rates on destroyers, etc.)"
Everyone knows he means the same thing, but there a proper way to put it in the second setting.
