Dear Ken:
Michael J. Fox appeared this weekend in a political ad directed against Jim Talent. Although I did not see the ad myself, I did hear it on my local radio station. It has been described by those who have seen it as very effective. The ailing Michael J. Fox is made to look even more pitiful by the smoke and mirrors of the make-up artist and cameraman and perhaps even by the skills of the the actor himself. Although we sympathize greatly with this man's illness, we cannot abide his mischaracterization of President Bush's veto of a bill authorizing embryonic stem cell research, and Sen. Talent's support for that veto as a veto against all stem-cell reasearch.
It is a favorite tactic of the opposition to mischaracterize this issue. For one thing, the veto only dealt with Federal funds for that research. It did not outlaw private or state funding for embryonic stem-cell research. Secondly, Federal funding for non-embryonic stem-cell research has continued. Furthermore, Fox does not bother to tell his listeners that not a single viable treatment for any disease has been advanced by embryonic stem-cell research.
The Michael J. Fox ad must be answered immediately with facts. We cannot continue to let the Democrats mischaracterize the two types of stem-cell research in order to gain some votes.
Sincerely,
attiladhun2
Don't expect Ken Mehlman to do anything, he wants the GOP to lose this election and the one in 2008.
Good e-mail.
I haven't seen the ad, but I know that at least once, maybe more often, Mr. Fox has appeared before Congress without taking his medication. Perhaps he did the same for this commercial. That is, it may not be makeup or acting, but rather, the real effects of the disease.
You can see the Ad here:

I agree 100%
I know he has done that before, and I think you are right. I've also seen the effects of the disease, and they are pretty ugly.
Thanks Keith. It does look like he was off his medication.
explain that one to me.
If John Kerry were President, he would stop shaking and get up out of that wheelchair and walk.
/John Edwards
That is not an act.
But for now Talent will have to answer the MJF Add before he falls behind in polls.
Oh please.
Manipulative tactics tend to backfire.
Just sayin'

You're crazy. I think you've read Machiavelli one too many times. Mehlman is pouring 110% of his heart and soul into this campaign. Any suggestion to the contrary is without basis and, indeed, delusional. You do this site a disservice in propounding such rubbish.
Why does Ken Mehlman want the GOP to lose in 2006 and 2008?
What are his motivations?
If his loyalties aren't to the GOP, his employer, where do they lie?
Try some aged Limberger.
he wants the GOP to lose this election and the one in 2008
a little slow here, why or what makes you say this?
