My comment: Your Chevy truck commercial with Mellencamp really stinks. I like it when companies infuse politics in their ads. It helps me determine from whom to buy. Chevy, is NOT a company I'll buy from because of your "American Loser" ad campaign. Sincerely, IC

Dear IC,

Thank you for contacting the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center. We appreciate you taking the time to write us in regards to our Chevrolet truck commercial with John Mellencamp.

Chevrolet’s ad campaign for the all-new Silverado, “Our Country. Our Truck.” is intended to capture the essence of the American experience. It celebrates the emotional connection our truck buyers have to their families and their country.

Chevrolet has been building and selling pickup trucks in the U.S. for 89 years and our ads are a reflection of that heritage of long-lasting dependability.

We regret any misinterpretation of this commercial.

Feedback from customers, such as you, is very helpful to us. We have documented your concerns and will be forwarding your comments to the appropriate department for their consideration. Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how you feel.

If you should need to contact us in the future, simply reply to this message or call our Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-222-1020. Customer Relationship Specialists are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time.

Again, thank you for contacting Chevrolet.

Sincerely,

The Chevrolet Consumer Support Team

...capture the essence of the American experience.

WTF??? The "essence" they show is America losing and America being torn apart. Some essence. I've bought Ford SUVs the past 10 years and am pissed at them sucking up to the homo lobby. Maybe it's time to switch to Toyota or Nissan.

I saw it during Monday Night Football. It's garbage. I'm a dedicated Chevy Truck guy, but GM screwed up with me big time over this ad.

Toyota trucks are made in America, Indiana I believe, home of John Cougar.

It's on YouTube. Ignore the joke about Colbert splashed on it. It's not in the tv ad.

I am not following you...

Tundras are made in Princeton IN. Toyota will build the 2007s in San Antonio and Princeton.

Well, Nissan's now giving benefits to queer "partners" so they'll be down the same hole as GM before long, I imagine.

It's the ad where half the US is burning and the other half is drenched under flood waters, correct?

This ad appears to be directed at the "Dixie Chicks" segment of the truck buying public.

I'm overseas. I don't see current commericals. Is it a pre-election hit? Is it sublte or is it blatant?

Some abject similarity between Anti-USA John Cougar hawking American made trucks with film clips showing our warts while Toyota building a better truck 30 miles south of where Cougar lives seemed relevant when I posted it.
