On Friday night, Hillary Clinton finally had to face an unscripted, uncontrolled media event -- a debate with her feisty opponent John Spencer, the Republican candidate for Senator from New York this year.

Spencer pinned her ears back with his opening statement when he declared: "I am the only person here who really wants to be the Senator from New York .... she wants to be president."

He sure seems to has been pushing the idea that Hillary can and will become president.

Another one was when she was saying that Rummy should be gone just like when Abe Lincoln fired his generals.

Spencer then reiterated that she wasn't qualified to make those decisions since she wasn't President yet (his second point on her aspirations).

That was pretty good and seemed to hit the mark.

One. Buried tomorrow at 9AM on WABC-TV in NYC - but it should be streamed online at 7online.com. Hillary! doesn't want many people to watch.

Here's how I view John Spencer:

"It's Clobbering Time [Hillary]!"

I think he's trying to scare us into action by predicting that Hillary will win in 2008. I think he wants people to be alarmed by his prediction and then go out and make sure it doesn't happen.

Anyone else see this debate? Did you think in all honesty Hillary got beat?

I saw most of the debate. Hillary! looked very flat for most of the debate. Even NY1's analyst from the liberal Village Voice thought so. Spencer came across as spirited, but there wasn't any knockout punch to change the dynamics of the race.

Clinton was forced to defend herself from Spencer, who exhibited a strong ability to debate the former first lady, on her efforts to help the state's economy. "I would love to see what I proposed actually enacted," she said of various plans that she said were defeated in Washington.

"When are you responsible? If you are not responsible you are not effective," Spencer said

If she can't out debate a mayor from Yonkers, how will she out debate a McCain, a Romney, a Newt, ect?

Do you think anyone at C-Span has been threatened yet with physical harm if they show this debate?

It won't matter for this election. However, this could be the source for some good campaign commercials in 2008.

Does anyone have viewer numbers? If anyone watched the debate, it might have changed their minds. Hillary is incapable of thinking on her feet. But most New Yorkers think of her as the incumbent, the liberal, and the woman, all of which they like. They don't really pay any attention to what she says, they just vote by name recognition.

If she is defeated, it will be because turnout is low for a midyear election and the Republicans really make a strong effort to get out and vote.

I don't think the party pros are bothering, but maybe the pro-life and other grass-root groups can do something. Let's hope.

Clinton's leading in the polls by 31 points. This just might drag her margin of victory down to, oh, 25.

He is...and he's always wrong.. except when it comes to the Clintons.

Morris was dead wrong when he predicted over and over again that Hellary would lose her Senate bid 6 years ago.

Yes. I should have been more clear in my comment.

Dick Morris is always wrong when he makes any prediction, including the Clintons.

His only credibility is regarding the Clinton's behavior and motivation. He knows how they think and where they hid the bodies...he should because he hid most of them himself.

Oh, the national media will make sure she does just fine.

They already have plans drawn up to make the most her heinous' agonizingly wooden delivery seem like Churchill.

Plus, instead of reporting her words, they will report every hand sweep or emphatic gesture that the Repub candidate makes is a hostile gesture toward the fragile Witch.

Excellent. I like him already. Although I would be shocked if he won.
