I will be driving to Fort Benning for the "God Bless Fort Benning" celebration on Saturday, November 18th.
God Bless Fort Benning is a patriotic counter by the local community to the annual Moonbat Migration and Protest organized by the "School of The Americas Watch" wackos.
While God Bless Fort Benning will not have Martin Sheehan running around with duct tape over his mouth with something incredibly stupid written on it, it has grown over a short period of time to be a bigger event than the "Sex, Drugs and Geritol" reunion of the burned out 60s hippies. And the people are much nicer.
It's a 14.5 hour drive from Philadelphia. If I stage out of Washington, DC, it cuts the trip to 12 hours.
My route, subject to demand, is Philadelphia, DC, Richmond, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Atlanta to Columbus.
Plan to travel Friday, stay over Friday and Saturday nights, and returning on Sunday. Lodging is relatively inexpensive, but that and meals would each traveller's own responsibility.
Freep mail me if interested or have questions. Will have a reliable and comfortable sedan. I will even rent a van if that many people are going.

These folks are an amzing group that provide love and support to the soldiers at Fort Benning all year long, so if you live within a 2 hour drive of Columbus, GA please make it a point to join them in support our troops and our country.
One word of caution. If you show up in Columbus that day and there are elderly unwashed folks are holding signs that read, "Don't Trust Any One Under 60", you're at the wrong event. And don't take the brown acid...
Brown fiber is now more important than the brown acid ever was.
Remember some hippies attended jump school at Benning, and that is no joke.
Boon: This is ridiculous.
Pinto: What are we gonna do?
Otter & Boon: Road trip.-- National Lampoon's Animal House (1978)
Funny..
A caution to any Freepers who stay in any motels outside of Ft Benning, please do not leave any valuables in your car over night..
Ft Benning is great you will enjoy your visit..
Am I talking with one?
Yes, and a draft resister as well, I fought the draft for two years, won, then enlisted in the army, volunteered for jump school and then started offering bribes to any clerks that I thought could get me to Vietnam.
Sounds like you've had an interesting life.
This SOTA crowd anymore is the hardcore left that hates America, blames America first yet supports the worst regimes in the world when you actually look at human rights abuses. Yet they'll get th media attention and the troops and their supporters won't.
With all due respect, I hope some of this same kind of energy (12-14 hour drive) could be channeled into saving our Republican Congress -- knocking on doors, especially.
There isn't much idealism among the left and there wasn't in the sixties either, but among the tiny little number of true hippies that existed before 1968 , maybe 1969, there was a lot of idealism.
As far as the weekender's, and the college kids and the political people, and the demonstrators, they weren't hippies.

While they are having a party at the Civic Center for the Soliders, the "moonbats" are protesting outside the gates of Fort Benning.
Here is a picture of Martin Sheen in 1999 at the protest
2000 at the protest
2004 at the Protest
Don't forget Susan Sarandon sometimes shows up to protest.
Not a PGR event actually, but I'm pinging the PGR group because there may be some of you who would be able and desire to participate!
