I'm making a larger point. I'm even saying this can't be done during election season (although I think the weekend before the election should be reserved for the election).

My point is this:

A lot of the energy, and time, and money, on our side go into directly supporting the troops. I'm very glad of that. But I think the people involved in this support also have an obligation not just to wave the flag, buy things for the soldiers, express their love and respect. They have an obligation, as well, to try to affect the political process -- to knock on doors, phone, etc., in order to prevent a Democratic Congress. I would have less respect for a person who had many hours to demonstrate support for the troops, but no time at all to maintain a Congress that will support them.

Doctor, a typo in my post, sorry. I meant that "I'm NOT" saying it can't be done during election season. Of course it can. And of course I wish those at this demonstration, which happens to be post-election, the best of success.
