A new Mason-Dixon poll out tonight shows Democrat Bill Nelson leading Republican Katherine Harris by 26 points in the U.S. Senate race.
Nelson polls at 57 percent; Harris at 31 percent. Nelson has been ahead by at least 15 points since Mason-Dixon first began polling nearly two years ago.
While campaigning in North Florida this week, Nelson told supporters that the race would even and that garnering 55 percent of the vote would be a landslide.
Harris spokeswoman Jennifer Marks released a statement, saying "Congresswoman Harris has a long history of rebounding from negative polling predictions because her message of cutting taxes and securing our nation's borders resonates across the political spectrum."

"This website is supposed to advance conservatism"
You do that by putting your people in office and keeping Democrats out of office. I agree that we should play hard until the clock runs out-- we need the enthusiasm in Pennsylvania, Montana and elsewhere. I disagree that we should play 3rd-stringers that are fan favorites while benching people on the starting lineup, especially in critical games where we need a touchdown.

Fortunately, the nattering nabobs of cyber negativity are meaningless. I consider them impotent drive-by cut & run posters.
I'll bet you 99.9% of them have never lifted a finger to work on a campaign. If these chumps spent 1/2 as much time constructively working to elect a candidate as they do bitching like 15 year old girls....

Katherine Harris ...... she got too big for her britches. Being a US Congressman wasn't good enough. She blew it all. She'll be back to horses and selling real estate very soon

IIRC, I was reading about the polls that said she was points down and couldn't beat Nelson. Hmmm.

Find a way for each and every Harris supporter to support her 1000%, and maybe she could still win! It would be irony for her to win because of some illegal votes cast for her.

I'd say 90% of the Harris bashers on this thread are at best left-of-center moderates that despise her because she is a real Conservative.

Check your gear, your sarcasmeter might be jammed. Could be. I took your other comment ("But she looks positively smashing in mount! Where's the pic? That will get the votes...") at face value -- you'd be surprised how many people vote on looks. Do you mean that your comment meant, "Well, if she can't win otherwise, maybe looking hot on horseback will do it?" If so, yeah, her looks are not really germane to her politics.
But a pretty lady with a great pair of forward-looking viewpoints is always appreciated, regardless.

The Panhandle of Florida is not as populated as south and central Florida. Neither Harris nor Nelson has spent any time campaigning here. We usually vote Republican...there is just not enough of us.

Why is anyone who can read the polls and make a accurate assessment of her chances a "Harris basher?"
"Realistic observer" seems to be a better term.

The ONLY reason Nelson votes with the Republicans on some (but not enough) issues is his fear of a bona fide challenge from the right. Don't let that RAT in a red state think he no longer has anything to fear in abandoning his Florida constituents completely and voting straight RAT. If you believe your Harris vote would otherwise be wasted, then cast it for Katherine to send Nellie a message! The narrower the margin the better!
Vote for Katherine and vote AGAINST the three SCOFLA justices who sided with AlGore in 2000! Spread the word.

The GOP should have gone for a viable candidate who'd not put her foot in her mouth all the time and that wouldn't be a huge draw for Democrats to come out and vote against her Jeb Bush, Bense, and Franks all declined to run. I don't know how many times this has to be pointed out. If you didn't want Harris then beat her in the primary. The woman announced her Senate candidacy way back in June of 2005. There was plenty of time for the GOP establishment to scrounge up someone to run against her.

Well, hey, the Democrats can take it easy now. No need for them to worry about voter turnout if the Republicans are going to return their cryptofascistpropedophilebottomfeedingscumsucker to office eh!
The fact the Dems are not telling their people to not show up and vote rather proves that even they don't necessarily believe their own polls.
