Nelson Continues To Lead Harris. (by 26 points in Florida Senate race. It's over)
Tampa Bay on line ^

Posted on 10/20/2006 9:07:35 PM PDT by MindBender26

A new Mason-Dixon poll out tonight shows Democrat Bill Nelson leading Republican Katherine Harris by 26 points in the U.S. Senate race.

Nelson polls at 57 percent; Harris at 31 percent. Nelson has been ahead by at least 15 points since Mason-Dixon first began polling nearly two years ago.

While campaigning in North Florida this week, Nelson told supporters that the race would even and that garnering 55 percent of the vote would be a landslide.

Harris spokeswoman Jennifer Marks released a statement, saying "Congresswoman Harris has a long history of rebounding from negative polling predictions because her message of cutting taxes and securing our nation's borders resonates across the political spectrum."

And when one of you can point to a good reason why Harris is so unsuitable to serve, but lightweights such as Chafee and Murkowski are not?

As is usual on Harris threads, you're completely and totally missing the point. One could, potentially, believe that Harris would be the greatest senator in the history of the country, and simultaneously ALSO believe that at no point did she have the remotest chance of winning this election and that having her be the Republican nominee was mind-bogglingly stupid.

It's not a matter of one's opinion of whether she's suitable to serve, it's a matter of whether someone is a realistic sort that actually has some comprehension of the mindset of an undecided, swing, or moderate voter in a statewide election vs. someone that lives in a political fantasyland.

She's a wonderful person, the timing was not right on this.

Well, I'd be the first to admit that she was premature in running for Senate after only serving 4 years in Congress.

But she threw her hat in the ring fair and square, nobody didn't challenge her and she's the nominee now. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Either conservatives get behind her or they want Nelson to win. Funny how all this rah-rah conservatives must get out and vote Republican or else Pelosi will wreak havoc doesn't apply to Harris. Ditto with the polls. Polls about Bush - BARF ALERT! But polls about Harris are the gospel. There's a huge double standard here. This website is supposed to advance conservatism, not defeat it in favor of the status-quo, and Harris is possible the most conservative candidate in the mid-terms after Santorum.

I'll bet that in the first hour of voting, it will be reported even worse than that for Harris. No need for the Panhandle voters to bother, move along, nothing to see here.

Imagine if all Florida's GOP voters actually chose to ignore the Ministry of Voting Polls?

And if all who support the generally true Conservative values were to really start praying for her and for Florida and America?

She's 26 points behind — that's a landslide, and then some.

Yeah, what butt-hole did the numbers come out of. Like I said, polls about Harris are the gospel. If this was a poll about Bush you'd be screaming Barf Alert.

Yep, some of the Kathrine Harris' "experts" never gives up as being the "ass-naut" bill nelson's moles campaigning for him here on a conservative forum!

Here's a few words I heard from Rush Limbaugh yesterday addressed to these moles!!

"It doesn't matter who you think is going to win at the halfway point. It doesn't matter who you think is going to win at the three-quarters point. It matters who wins when it's over." I read that he pulled the same analogy out this week as the Patriots are coming off their bye. He's got a different team and he's going through the same thing. But all these things are relevant to politics today in the sense that nobody knows what's going to happen right now, not a soul knows, not the pollsters, nobody knows. And to start making bets, start making plans to start letting your mood be affected by what you think is going to happen now based on what nobody can know, nobody can know. If we knew who was going to -- if the polls were accurate, then there would be no reason to have the election, would there be? If the exit polls were accurate, there would be no reason to count the votes, would there? But for some reason, we still in this country (I don't know for how much longer) count the votes. It isn't going to last too long, if Democrats keep losing on the real vote count. We're going to stop counting the real votes and we're going to go on polls, pre-election polls and exit polls. But for now, Democrats lose. And I'm telling you, there is no way, there is not a person of this earth who knows what's going to happen on Election Day. There is nobody who knows what's going to happen tomorrow. There's nobody who knows what's going to happen tonight, other than those for whom it is night time and are living it now -- and yet we've got defeatist attitudes and we've got euphoria. We've got people making plans, Democrats, Pelosi, first hundred hours, measuring the drapes, they're celebrating on the ten yard line and they're about to spike the ball early and create a fumble."

Hmmmm!!!

I support Harris. I hope she wins. Why wouldn't I??? Look at it like a football game. In order for the Packers to beat the Steelers, the Packers have to not turn over the ball and play almost flawless football.

The same was in her case. She had issues going into the elections. Fine, I didn't have a problem with her with any of this. But she had to overcome this and run a flawless campaign. She hasn't.

I am not dumping on her, but from the perceptive that I have on this race, if she does lose, it would have been a wasted opportunity.

Then people in panhandle who support Harris and GOTV need to bust their asses and get these people out to vote.

"I wasn't about to vote for her because she was unelectable."

I love that "logic", don't you?

I know you weren't dumping on her; I saw it from your point of view. Had Bush or Bense jumped in I would have definetly supported them.

In order for the Packers to beat the Steelers

LOL. The way the Packers are playing, they're not able to beat a junior varsity high school squad.

Wasn't her district very Republican? If the guys in Foley's district couldn't have someone normal beat him, how hard could it have been for Harris to get her seat? She was elected statewide before the 2000 election mess which almost all Democrats still think they won.

I find it hard to believe anybody puts any credibility into these polls. They're just another TOOL of the libs.

I've always find it amusing when the polls are going our way, then they must be right and are touted as valid, but when they indicate something not favorable, then they are a tool of the libs, manipulated and biased.

Clearly hasn't been working. Sadly, she may rank with Alan Keyes as far as generating votes.

How can the polls reflect a preference for either candidate before exposure of the two in a head to head confrontation? It's the Debate stupid.

I think the first debate is next week, and on Russert Show the following week. And as fast as Corker caught and passed Ford, Harris can catch up to Nelson. The polls will never show her ahead, but the final vote very well may.

Kathy is heading for the homestretch. IMO she should attack Nelson as being a Washington Democratic clone, and another 6 yrs of his rubber stamping is not in Florida's interests.

Alan Keyes ....

Alan's a brilliant man, conservative to boot, but I don't think he ever was elected to anything.

By contrast Harris has, over and over. She will do very well and even win.
