NEW YORK - The city said Friday that it will search parts of the World Trade Center site again for remains of the Sept. 11 dead after several bones were pulled out of an abandoned manhole a discovery that stirred up new fury and disbelief among victims' families. The family members demanded that construction stop at ground zero until remains of all their loved ones are recovered. They also called for state and federal investigations into the failure to completely remove remains from ground zero. ... Diane Horning said that part of her son's body was located more than four years ago not far from where the bones were pulled from the manhole.
"Oh my God, is that more of Matthew?" she said Friday of the latest discovery. "But it's been sitting there for over five years." ...

So, now NY is supposed to stop all work just like these victims are native americans and the ground is hallow.
Or, is this just a new attempt to prove Ann Coulter correct. A whole new $$ claim for personal stress!
I have my own stress. Enough, already!

Crude, but I can't say as I disagree with the sentiment.

Most bodies were turned to dust. They will be finding human remains behind air conditioners and in hard to reach places for the next ten years. Almost impossible to find it all. Lets move along , Nothing to see here.

Agreed. Should Belgian farmers no longer plow Flanders fields, where they still turn up shells and bone fragments from WW1? Should French farmers no longer plow up fields around St. Lo?
People are lost in wars. Life must go on or their loss is in vain.
To: Prost1
That's your sentiment, not the article's I agree with.

i think it is physically impossible to remove every last human remain from the area
It amazes me that, 5 years later, this site is still vacant. Looks like it will continue to be if some parties get their way.
Who owns the land at the WTC site now?

Who owns the land at the WTC site now?
The Port Authority, I guess.

did they always own it? what say does the owner of the former wtc towers have in this? (did he hold a lease on the lots)
To: WoofDog123

If the laws for ports work the same there as down here the Port Authority will always own the land, and in this case the actual building, but you can lease the property for quite some time. I have a building on land that I don't own, but I do have a 99 year lease...and I am not worried about the renewal. :)

Maybe not a 9/11 victim. The vicinity of the WTC is/ was a good place to dispose of body parts.

Huh? The immediate vicinity around Ground Zero isn't swampland. It was (and still is) surrounded by very tall office and some apartment buildings. Even today without the towers, the area is more crowded during the day than the downtowns of most major American cities. It's hardly the type of place where tons of body parts were disposed of.

The soil around Verdun is very fertile. When it comes down to it, 'cycle of life' comes to mind.

Yeah, it's not like there isn't a major police presence in the area, a police building on Washington St., and tourists surrounding the site all the time. Doesn't seem like you were joking, but this makes no sense.

I'd love to hear Mayor Ray Nagin's thoughts...
