White House political strategist Karl Rove tells editors and reporters at THE WASHINGTON TIMES: 'I'm confident we're going to keep the Senate; I'm confident we're going to keep the House. The Foley matter has impact in some limited districts, but the research we have shows that people are differentiating between a vote for their congressman and a member from Florida.' MORE...
'It is useful to remind people what [Democrats] said and what they do. I think they have given us here, especially in the last couple of weeks, a potent set of votes to talk about. You had 90 percent of House Democrats voting against the terrorist-surveillance program, nearly three-quarters of Senate Democrats and 80 percent of House Democrats voting against the terrorist-interrogation act. Something is fundamentally flawed.' DEVELOPING...
And who was predicting this in past years? Were they George Will, Bill Kristol, Laura Ingraham, Bob Novak, Peggy Noonan, David Frum, David Kuo"
Don't let the media define these these people as "spokesman" for conservatives. THEY ARE NOT.
--Let's not interrogate terrorists, say the dems, but they accuse Hastert of not doing enough to investigate Foley even though Hastert probably had less to go on than the government does on these suspected terrorists.--
Excellent point which reminds us of typical Donkeycrat defense & national security policies:
1) Klinton used more armored vehicles against the Branch Davidians than against the Somalian warlords.
2) Klinton pardoned more terrorists than he killed.
3) The Dim. administration in the 1990s spent more $$$ trying to break up Microsoft than breaking up al Qaeda.
4) Dims were more concerned about protecting unionized federal jobs than about protecting the U.S. (voted against Homeland Sec. Dept. in 2002).
5) Benedick Durbin accused Gitmo guards of Nazi-like abuses.
6) John F'ing Kerry accused US troops in Iraq of terrorist tactics.
7) Abu Ghraib garnered more headlines, wall-to-wall liberal media coverage, and Donkeycrat hot air than the beheadings of hostages in Iraq during 2004.
8) Dims raise all heck about a BS nothing story like Plamegate but fail to condemn leakers of national security info.
...etc. etc. ad nauseam to the present...... Keep it up, Donkeys, that's the way to win elections /sarc factor 10, Scotty.
--The Democrats held Congress for 40 years, the last 25 of those years as extreme leftists.--
However they also had Scoop Jackson, Sam Nunn, Les Aspin and a bunch of other non-leftists in Congress to balance them out and give them some credibility on defense and national security.
People like that are lacking in today's radical Donkeycrat hordes. Murtha & Durbin & Reid are frauds and buffoons. Besides, now we have Rush, the Pajamahedin, et al., always ready to expose the leftists when they try to masquerade as moderates.
That's why the Dims, IMHO, could not hold on to Congress for long by enacting leftist policies.
People have forgotten about those images of Hillary broadcasted live on national television for everyone to see the true Hillary. Those images will be replayed, replayed and replayed on conservative televsion shows and in commercials. It will destroy her hopes.
I'm surprised no one has run tape of the entire Democrat side of the aisle from THIS YEAR's SOTU speech...where they all stood up and cheered when President Bush talked about some not agreeing with his plan to reform Social Security...and then there was their heckling during last year's SOTU, which I believe was over the same subject.
To quote the South Park character, "Democrats pi$$ me off!"
I agree.
If they lose, it will take decades for the Democrat party to reorganize and take control.
I disagree. The Democrats have a very easy path back to coherence. All they have to do is break out of the rut on entitlement and educational reform. On Social Security they have strapped themselves to the bankruptcy model. Stupid. On health care, they're for single payer/rationing. Stupid. On education, they've given a veto option to the teachers unions. Viciously destructive as well as stupid. But all of these are "emperor's new clothes" issues. The moment a serious national Democrat is willing to break the taboo, the shift will be very rapid.
Sooner or later, a Democrat is going to recognize that private investment accounts for Social Security is a fast track to the White House.
Good point. If only I could inquire of Ms Palosi how hard she will sex-police members of congress if her party wins the majority.
I hate to say it, but what is he smoking. I think we'll hold unto the Senate, barely, maybe by a seat or two, but I do believe the House is lost. I don't think it will be a complete massacre, it will be a tight Democratic Majority in the House after the election and a tight Republican Majority in the Senate. That's just my read on it. Unfortunate, but the truth.
I don't think he was smoking anything. Remember he gets to see the real polls and not what these other worthless ones say.
What are you smoking. Rove has won more elections than you have, but you can go ahead and beleive a biased media that never gets anything correct or intentionally lies about things, such as Rove being behind the plame/wilson brouhaha.
That's why the Dims, IMHO, could not hold on to Congress for long by enacting leftist policies.
Hopefully we won't have to find out!!!!
Excellent 8 points. The list of attacks on freedom & truth by this socialist collective could go on, and on, and on,...
We are fortunate that we can still vote them out of government.
"Democrats take both Houses = any Republican win the WH in 08"
LOSIN' IS FOR LIBS!!!
If conservatives go down this fall we're gonna go down swingin'!!
Why?
I hope he's right, I hope you are right. I just don't see it happening unfortunately.
[I never one a chess game [ or a spelling bee] by underestimating my opponent.
Right now, any expert that goes against the Echo Chamber that Dims are going to lose will be laughed out of DC. Just like the last 3 elections. Rove knows not to fire until we see their beady little eyes.
Pray for W and Our Troops
The last time any Republican controlled the news cycle was when? 1920?
That's not the issue if the discussion is where to assign blame that these elections and control of the congress are even in question. That liability falls squarely on the shoulders of many/most Pub congresscritters and senators. With a nod at WH responsibility for contributions toward certain gaffes and missteps as well.
