WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. officials say North Korea's military has informed China it intends to carry out a series of underground nuclear tests, NBC News reported on Tuesday.
No further details were provided in the report.
The United States said North Korea had moved equipment into place that may indicate it plans a second nuclear test, despite international condemnation of its first underground nuclear explosion on October 9.
North Korea has denounced U.N. sanctions over its nuclear test as a declaration of war.
Make that Cuba and Venezuela via Iran.
I recall Ahmedijenad saying if we attacked Iran, destruction would come upon us from "an unexpected direction".
NO cheers, unfortunately.
the DPRK artillery/seoul situation is definitely a mexican standoff; presumably that was part of the intention in its construction and that alone may have prevented any US military action in 94 and more recently.
I don't see a situation ROK can ever agree to support initiating action against DPRK given this, and DPRK is apparently smart enough to not actually do anything that will provoke a real response while they continue their nuclear program.
The only scenario I can imagine where ROK's views on this are summarily ignored is if DPRK is caught exporting a nuke, or a DPRK-origin nuke (or actually any nuke from anyone) is used by a proxy or terrorist org.
Two words....nuke them now before they fail math 101 too.
"How's THAT for diplo talk?"
Pretty brazen. Considering that every ally of the US would perceive that WE would willingly compromise their populations and economies, in the event of mass casualties in ROK. And how soon do you think the US could rebuild their economy?

Please do not misunderstand my stance. When Japan, and our other allies in the region, are ready and willing; the events will begin. We can not be hasty, or unprepared. "At a time and place of our choosing". Not DPRK's
Yup. So true.
Way OT but just to show how stupid our news readers are.
Last night listening to the news on WOKV the guy says the NK nuke was just under 1 kiloton which amounts to just under 1000 pounds of TNT. Pounds!!
Product of our Gov't schools.
Looks like a fine Pack-O-Dawgs you got there,,,
Bet no Bogeyman sneaks up on You,,,hehehe.

IMHO if we tried to take out NK nuke and missile sites, they would open fire on Seoul with every thing they've got. (insert
Captain Obvious remark here) I don't see how anything short of a nuke preemptive strike on NK artillery could save Seoul. My two cents worth.
Any action will have to come from China. The Chinese should be told that we will encourage and help Japan and SK go nuclear if they don't take care of Mr Kim. End of stand-off.
Nope...and, everyone calls before they come.
HI counter, TANKS for the ping

SEOUL, South Korea - Satellite images indicate North Korea appears to be getting ready for a second nuclear test, officials said Tuesday, as the defiant communist regime held huge rallies and proclaimed that U.N. sanctions amount to a declaration of war.
China, the North's longtime ally and biggest trading partner, warned Pyongyang not to aggravate tensions. The U.N. has condemned the Oct. 9 atomic blast, and U.S. nuclear envoy Christopher Hill told reporters in Seoul on Tuesday that another nuclear explosion would be "a very belligerent answer" to the world."
AP is regurgitating what the other media outlets already have stated.

Hey There,,Lots To See Here,,,All Bad !
You bring up a very good point, and one I share. With a lot of talk about taking out DPRK reactors and bombing Pyongyang back to the stone-age, I'm reading little consideration toward the China factor in all of these plans.
Also- the problem with a full naval blockade is that it is an act of war, and since we're dealing under the U.N. mothership /s currently on this issue, I believe the military option text references were negotiated away to placate China and Russia over the weekend? Test #2 could change the sanctions- who knows at this point.
you got that right!!!
hey you
