The force of Gerry Studds (Caution: vomit enducing)
Boston Globe ^ | 10/17/06 | Mary Breslauer

GERRY E. STUDDS, the blazingly articulate, acerbic former congressman representing some of the most beautiful coastline in the country, left a legacy of accomplishment for everyone, but particularly for those of us who are gay. In an age where even rehab for alcoholism is misused by those seeking to avoid responsibility, Studds faced the most personal of charges in an unforgiving spotlight, and he did it in a direct, unflinching way.

When Studds was censured by the House of Representatives in 1983 for having a consensual affair with a 17-year-old page some 10 years earlier, he did it according to the decorum of the House: facing the speaker as he read the resolution of censure charges. In his speech to the House, he became the first openly gay member of Congress.

So when Studds (a democrat) has sex with a 17 year old page, he's a hero.

But when Foley has written conversation with a 18 year old male, he's a jerk.

Typical double standard of the American Left Wing Lunatic Society.

So I wonder if this author damns Clinton?

They burn Foley at the stake (rightfully so) for lurid e-mails, but with Studds its, a "consensual affair with a 17-year-old page?" Nausiating, truly nausiating.

I remember taking my kids to Provincetown to go on the whale watch. We were continuously visually insulted by scenes of homo couples in bare buttocks jeans, transvestites strutting down the street exposing themselves, etc., etc., etc. The town is absolutely filthy. The streets are filthy. The houses are run-down. The whole place is ugly and grotesque.

May Studds burn in hell forever!

"did it according to the decorum of the House: facing the speaker as he read the resolution of censure charges"... Is this correct? I thought Studds defied the House and turned his back on the speaker. Which is correct?

Neglecting to point out that these abusers are Democrats, many who's last name is "Kennedy".

"...The force of Gerry Studds..."

Was it a thrusting force or a bobbing force? Inquiring minds want to know.

Here's something I find interesting and puzzling about this whole sordid episode. Foley sent text messages to these kids just talking about doing things, whereas 'Rats like Studds and Frank actually did them. Foley gets run out of town on a rail for talking about things, but the 'Rats who actually did those things (and more) are lauded as heroes and kept in office and re-elected time and again. Naw, no double standards at all when it comes to the media dealing with those issues.

From what I've read, Studds diddled an underage male page after liquoring him up pretty good, so he's guilty of not only homosexual sex with a minor, but also providing and serving alcohol to a minor. So he gets censured by the House which supposedly means he can't serve as committee or subcommittee chairs, yet Nancy Pelosi (and others) vote for him as subcommittee chair, in direct violation of House rules.

Then you've got Barney Fwrank hiring a male prostitute to service him and the guy is operating a homosexual prostitution racket out of Frank's apartment, and Frank is going out fixing parking tickets for the scumbag. So they do a limp noodle reprimand of Frank and now he is one of the elder statesmen-heroes of the 'Rats in the House.

I tell you, every time a 'Rat brings up the Foley matter, a Republican should be there to throw Studds and Frank up in the ugly face of the 'Rat. At least Republicans get rid of their bad apples, where the 'Rats keep them around and embrace them and make them their heroes.

"having a consensual affair with a 17-year-old page"

How can a newspaper print such an idiotic statement?

How many of us, after all, have dragged ourselves through middle age without successfully seducing a single teenage kid?

Never again post anything with "force" and "Gerry Studs" in the same sentence.

Statement from Senator John F. Kerry:

Gerry Studds was a hero who beat a path for the gay Congressmen of the future. Gerry had a penetrating intellect and an overwhelming desire to get to the bottom of every issue. Even when things got messy, he bent over backwards to help millions of young men get over the hump -- a true hands on legislator. There were many ups and downs in his life, but Gerry always knew how to swallow hard, suck it up and keep plugging away. Gerry used to say to me "I don't care how much crap gets in your way John, don't be afraid to reach for that ring. And when you get there, keep pushing." He was real straight shooter, always willing to take on a heavy load with a smile on his face, never hesitating to get down on his hands and knees to help the little guy. Boy was I ever blown away by his committment to servicing the public. If Congessman Studds had one flaw, it was that he was forever turning the other cheek and possibly spreading himself too thin. In short he made me feel like a teenager again. His death has left a gaping hole in me that can never truly be filled.
