Screw you trolls, I'm voting, and I'm Voting all R's!

Screw you trolls, I'm voting and I'm Voting all R's!

I don't know about you, but I have had it up to and including my A$$ with all the whining that is going on around here about what the Republicans have or have not done to deserve your vote this November.. I know for sure that if we had the Democrats in power the past 10 years it would be a hell of a lot worse, with or without President Bush.. I'm not entirely happy about many things that are happening, (fill in the blank, with garbage on the other threads), but I am thrilled that I am not paying as much in taxes as I would have with (fill in the blank with any jackass in the Democrat leadership).. And I am grateful as all get out, that we are not ducking terrorist bombs in my neighborhood, or anywhere else in these United States..

I think I can say without any reservations that Roberts and Alito are a whole lot better than anyone that Leaky Leahy or Turban Durbin would have approved.. And what about our military? Would we still have one if congress wasn't in our control?

Give me a friggin break, I haven't found one single person that makes all of my dreams come true, (even Nicole Kidman, I think) why should I expect more than a half dozen out of 435 Congressgritters to even agree with me on most of what I want done in our country.. Hell, I don't even get that in my own home with blood of my blood that even look like me!

So if it's all the same with you.. and YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, I'm going to wake up on November 7th and make a great big special breakfast, with all the trimmin's and invite all of my kids and as many neighbors as I think I can bribe with food and feed them until they say Uncle Sam and drive their fat a$$es to the polls and get them to pull the lever for everyone with an R after their name to insure that I can sleep peacefully that night and hopefully ever night thereafter..

That's my plan, don't be a damned fool and mess up my vote with some stupid idea that will cancel mine out, just to prove that you can be as dumb as you sound!

I for one will vote my conscience, it mostly lies with the Republican party but I will not be swayed by the one who criticizes me most for not voting party line.

I detest when someone tries to sway my opinion by calling me a "troll". I wish to vote for the party who has the most to offer to Americans, the one in whom I believe. Vote Republican because they have an idealogy you agree with, vote Republican because there is someone you are truly behind. This is America, you are the American voter.

For now, I will vote Republican because the opposition has nothing of substance to offer.

have you ever tried dumplings with suet IMHO they are much more light and fluffy..

Indeed they are, and yes I do have an old recipe with suet, but I am swayed by the health concerns.. However, now I've got to dig that baby out and take a look at it again, after all we can't live forever.. LOL

We are on the same side, and no I don't need a nap. Apparently you are surprised all FR voters aren't just voting blindly. Sorry that not everyone tows the party line as experienced by most responses. Many American voters vote with eyes wide open. However, I do think we will win in November. Not because Americans vote blindly, mostly because Americans don't have much choice. I will be very interested to see if 2008 brings us a real candidate, not one backed by a family of politicians. No Gores, no Bushes, maybe a Tancredo.

The best pumpkin for baking with fresh pumpkin, is a sugar pumpkin. It is smaller (about 8" in diameter) and so much sweeter. They are usually a dark orange colored flesh. The larger Halloween jack-o-lantern pumpkin is bland and much too stringy for good baking.

FRESH PUMPKIN PIE

1) Cook, puree and blend enough pumpkin to make 4 cups. Set aside.
2) In bowl combine eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and sugar (if using). Mix well and add to pumpkin, thoroughly mixing again.
3) Add half and half and blend until color and texture are uniform. Pour into 9-inch pie crust.
Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
Cover edges with foil to prevent over-browning of crust.
Enjoy!

Oh Carlo! Thats my kind of Southern-style dinner. My dad, a Georgia native, used to make it a lot. My grandmother, of Pennsylvania Dutch descent, made it and called it "pot pie." The two of them would feud about who's dish was the best. They were both terrific!

You are absolutely right, I really do expect everyone to tow the party line like lemmings, drat.. Maybe they are just catching on to our game.. Naw, they'll fall in line just in time, just like Karl Rove planned it.. :)

How long do you cook the pumpkin? Saute, boil?

Can sugar pumpkins be bought in Texas at farmers markets? Central Market, perhaps?

I think that I will try this with my 10 yo for Thanksgiving. Will practice before the big week.

Thank you again for years of family memories that you have shared with all of us.

Hey girl, so good to see you.. I'm glad you like our Old Fashioned Chicken Dumplings, it's our family favorite as well.. Aside from chicken and dumplings, a great pot roast, and pasta of course, there are a couple of side dishes that really define a homemade Sunday meal, fluffy mashed potatoes, bread dressing and rich creamy gravy.. :)

Uncle Joe's Favorite Stuffing

This stuffing is for a big bird, not to be confused with stuffing"Big Bird", or as a side for any roast. It will easily stuff a 24 pound bird and have a little left over. If you are using a smaller bird, you can halve this recipe, or else freeze the extra. One of the best things about this stuffing is how well it freezes. Take any extra stuffing and place it in a foil lined casserole dish.  Bake like normal and cool to room temperature. Freeze for a day or two. Remove your casserole dish and you will  have a nice package of frozen stuffing for whenever you need it.

    * 2 cups diced dried apricots
    * 1 cup diced dried cranberries
    * 1/2 cup amaretto liqueur
    * 1 cup pear or plain brandy
    * 1 1/2 cups butter
    * 2 large yellow onions, chopped
    * 1 bunch scallions, sliced
    * 6 stalks and leaves celery, chopped
    * 8 cups day old egg bread cubes
    * 2 pounds bulk pork or turkey sausage
    * 2 cups chestnuts, peeled and coarsely chopped
    * 3 pears, cored and chopped
    * 3 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
    * 3 beaten eggs
    * 1 cup apricot nectar
    * 3 cups chicken stock
    * salt and pepper

Soak the apricots and cranberries in the amaretto and brandy overnight. Saute the onions, scallions, and celery in 4 tablespoons butter until soft. Once cooked, transfer to a large bowl. In the same pan crumble the sausage and cook until browned. Add the sausage and bread cubes to the onion mixture. Add the chestnuts, pears, apricot mixture (including soaking liquid) and rosemary to the stuffing mixture. In the same skillet heat the rest of the butter, apricot nectar, and chicken stock until the butter is melted and pour over the stuffing. Salt and pepper to taste and mix well. Loosely stuff the turkey if desired. Bake any leftover (or all of the stuffing) for 40 minutes along with the turkey.

How long do you cook the pumpkin?

Bake pumpkin at 325 degrees F until the flesh is tender when pierced with a fork. Let stand until cool enough to be handled. Scrape pumpkin flesh from the peel, and mash by hand, or puree in small batches in a blender or food processor.

Can sugar pumpkins be bought in Texas at farmers markets?

You can find small dark orange pumpkins at most markets this time of the year, usually from now until Christmas.. Thank you for cooking for your family.. I wish more families ate homecooked meals together, our country would be a lot better place if they did..
