I don't know about you, but I have had it up to and including my A$$ with all the whining that is going on around here about what the Republicans have or have not done to deserve your vote this November.. I know for sure that if we had the Democrats in power the past 10 years it would be a hell of a lot worse, with or without President Bush.. I'm not entirely happy about many things that are happening, (fill in the blank, with garbage on the other threads), but I am thrilled that I am not paying as much in taxes as I would have with (fill in the blank with any jackass in the Democrat leadership).. And I am grateful as all get out, that we are not ducking terrorist bombs in my neighborhood, or anywhere else in these United States..I think I can say without any reservations that Roberts and Alito are a whole lot better than anyone that Leaky Leahy or Turban Durbin would have approved.. And what about our military? Would we still have one if congress wasn't in our control?
Give me a friggin break, I haven't found one single person that makes all of my dreams come true, (even Nicole Kidman, I think) why should I expect more than a half dozen out of 435 Congressgritters to even agree with me on most of what I want done in our country.. Hell, I don't even get that in my own home with blood of my blood that even look like me!
So if it's all the same with you.. and YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, I'm going to wake up on November 7th and make a great big special breakfast, with all the trimmin's and invite all of my kids and as many neighbors as I think I can bribe with food and feed them until they say Uncle Sam and drive their fat a$$es to the polls and get them to pull the lever for everyone with an R after their name to insure that I can sleep peacefully that night and hopefully ever night thereafter..
That's my plan, don't be a damned fool and mess up my vote with some stupid idea that will cancel mine out, just to prove that you can be as dumb as you sound!
I shall eat whatever I wish, to a point, and vote the same way.
I'd rather have an "honest" candidate.
Lamont is upfront about his beliefs - anti-war on terror, for higher taxes, radical agenda on social issues etc etc. Lieberman is more "stealthy" - voted for the WOT but against lowering taxes, for radical social agenda - the ACU gives him a 5% rating.
Other than voting to invade Iraq, Lieberman is no friend to the Republicans, any more than is Lamont.
by upstanding people such as Pelosi, Reid, Leahy, Kennedy, Rockefeller, Durbin and so on ?
No, absolutely not. If you think those named would actually be interested in the truth and not partisan flamethrowing, it would be a good idea. But that's not their aim, now, is it ?
All R's...............yep, me too..........and proudly.
Thanks for the ping.
Thanks for the ping.
Hey, I just added a link to Cooking with Carlo on my blog (orthoopinions.blogger.com)!
I figured even though only search-engine spiders seem to read my blog, I could do another broken-glass Republican a good turn, since inlinks from anywhere help with page rank. (I liked your site, and the only other food link I had was the omni-useful epicurious.com.)
BUDGE, Here is a wonderful family recipe, that we modified with Vidalia onions, and made it even better.. This is a bit bigger than a single serving, however you can freeze the rest for another couple of great meals. Put the remainer away in the portions you want to eat them and pop them in the micro for about 3 minutes when needed.I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S LIVER AND ONIONS
I know, I can here it now.. I will never eat liver, not in a box or with a fox.. But this is different, this is the only way to prepare it and you will become a liver and onion freak, just like everyone that I fix it for.. Really!
The secret is doing these three easy steps;1) Slice the liver in strips, and marinate in milk overnight.
2) Don't mess with it as you cook, turn as little as possible. Do not overcook it!
3) Vidalia onions2 pounds calves liver, (beef will do), sliced in about 2" strips
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup real butter
2 large Vidalia onions, sliced into rings
2 cups all-purpose flour, or as needed
salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Prepare the night before. If you can't wait overnight, let it soak as long as possible, 2 hours minimum..
Slice and rinse liver under cold water, and place in a medium bowl, and pour in enough milk to cover. Cover and place in fridge until you need them.
1) Using a large heavy skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
2) Slice onions into rings, and sauté them in butter until soft. Remove onions, and melt remaining butter in the skillet. Dust and season them in the flour with salt and pepper. Set them aside. Drain milk from liver, and coat slices in the flour mixture.
3) Raise the heat in the skillet to med-high, and sauté the coated seasoned liver cooking until golden brown on the bottom. Turn once, and cook on the other side until browned. Remove and set aside..
4) Add onions, and reduce heat, and finish onions until browned, don't burn butter..
For gravy, add a bit of flour that has been diluted with a small amount of water, (or as I prefer, corn starch) and sauté until in thickens a bit.. You will love this.. ENJOY!
Rants and recipes! Good combo! Thanks, FRiend!
Oh, man ... that looks delicious. Good rant, too!
Great Post. I am so tired of reading all these troll posts of late. These trolls have been appearing here lately on FR in numbers reminiscent of rats leaving a sinking ship.
Ditto to that.. So GOOD to see ya.. :)
Below is our response to them.
DOUBLE DITTOS!
Hey, Hey, BIKER MY MAIN MAN.. Let the commies eat old French Fries for all I care.. :)
In other words, you're saying that as of a month ago had you lived in Florida you would have proudly cast a vote for Mark Foley.
Something to be proud of, no doubt.
How about an Election Morning Breakfast thread?
Oh man, I can't wait to try that recipe, Carlo!
Many, many thanks!
P.S. I'm the only one in my dwindling family that will even eat Liver & Onions, and I love them! :)
Bravo.
