Strange bedfellows: Michael Savage Donates to Democrats
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 10/16/06 | arual

Strange bedfellows: It turns out that ultra-hot conservative talk show host Michael Savage is backing Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown for state attorney general. "What can I say? I think he'd make a great attorney general compared to the other guy. By the way, who is the other guy?'' Savage said, when asked why he chose Democrat Brown over conservative Republican Chuck Poochigian. Savage, whose rants can be heard locally on KNEW-AM, is backing up his hot talk with some hot money as well. Savage Productions, which lists Savage as president and his wife, Janet Weiner, as director, has donated $5,600 to Brown's campaign. "You have to make choices in an imperfect world,'' Savage said. "And this, this Machugian guy. (Like we said, it's Poochigian.) I never heard of him. I don't even know who he is." Poochigian has spent the past 12 years in Sacramento, first in the Assembly and now in the Senate. Doesn't impress the president of the Savage Nation. "Why bet on a horse that isn't going to win? Why throw your money into the garbage?'' So how did the best-selling author of "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder'' wind up backing a liberal once nicknamed "Governor Moonbeam"? "People change. He changed. He has experience,'' Savage said of Brown. "He started the Oakland military academy -- that was a good thing." And Brown's politics? "He's moved to the center, which is what this socialist state needs," Savage said.

And what do you believe in regards to Iraq, Dane? That victory really is just around the corner?

There is nothing "ultra right" about being a Republican conservaztive. You sound like a Democrat who likes to label.

This FR forum has room enough for all sorts of conservatives including yor kind.

"Maybe now his fans here will finally see the moron for what he is --- a moron."

A moron with an IQ of 170, two masters degrees and a PhD., four best sellers, and, most important of all, he's a human being who is willing to face issues squarely without hiding behind a political party, prejudice or Political Correctness.

The fact that a person sticks his neck out and tells it the way he sees it doesn't make him a ranter, a wild man or a moron.

Some of these Freepers are like a pack of mad dogs, attacking anybody with character and guts. This world needs more people who see it as it is and speak out as they see it, and aren't poured into the same mold as everybody else.

I expect I'm going to be attacked now as Michael was.

Me? In the past I've overlooked his ignorance, his arrogance, and the self-righteous childish tirades of Michael Savage because I deeply felt a kinship with his dogged support of the American troops.

Well, to hell with Savage, I'll not listen to him anymore.

But I do hope that he turns out to be just another media whore seeking favor, otherwise his donation to the campaign of dizzy politician Jerry Brown is indicative of the "mental disorder" that he has pointed out to all who listen in his latest, poorly written, comic (with pictures) book.

No, really, I'm willing to hear a good, solid reason why a self-styled conservative who's lived the last three decades in California would support Jerry Brown for state office over just about anybody short of a convicted child abuser, let alone Chuck Poochigian. I just don't think there is such a thing. "Jerry's grown"? Heh. His ads say otherwise. "I don't know who the other guy is"? I say again...is it really that far from San Francrisco to Sacramento and Pooch's district in Fresno that Savage can't check the man out for himself? "You have to make choices in an imperfect world"? Fine. I'd like better candidates on our side of the ballot, too. But for any California conservative worthy of the name, Jerry Brown is simply not acceptable.

He is a circus act.

That about sums him up...I wonder what that makes his defenders.

I cannot imagine how he is not losing much of his audience.

Because his audience is as devoted to him as the Rev. Jim Jones who convinced his cultish following to move to Guyana and drink the kool-aid.

I'm sure Savage listeners in California will now cast their vote for the former Governor Moonbeam instead of the conservative.

And they'll try to defend it.

Does Geroge Bush donate $5,000 dollars to former Gov. moonbeam as michael moonbeam weiner savage has.

No, Bush supported and the RNC gave a lot more than $5,000 to Moonbeam Specter. His wife presided over an induction ceremony of a State department official and his "husband" (as did Condi). Yes, a wonderful right-wing bunch all.

No attacks on you, but you should probably read the thread, if you think any of that is impressive or makes Weiner not a moron in the topics he has chosen to discuss on the air.

"And you Kirkwood base your above on MSM rpeorting and spin. "

Heh. I don't watch or read MSM reporting at all except for some local news. I base some of this on what I hear from my military friends and family. Some from what I expected the predident to do when we got into this war. Some from my own personal feeling about expectations for Iraq to start taking responsibility for themselves. Plus I have a lot of other reasons why I want to see some significant changes over there in the next 6 to 12 months. Just like here in the US, monitoring the Iraq borders is critical and that is where we need to be spending more effort, not in Baghdad. Rush had some good ideas that I hope are considered seriously.

"As for the Poochigian campaign, chief adviser Ken Khachigian told us..."

A couple of Arminians from Fresno. I have known only good people whose last name ends in "ian". I am voting for Poochigian.

I am a Savage fan, but in this case the Weiner personality is ruling.

Gov. Moonbean saw violent crime explode while mayor of Oakland. Gov. Moonbeam called the execution of a dirtbag serial killer who sodomized, then murdered, teens a state sponsored killing. Gov. Moonbeam promoted a prisoner's rights program that allowed felons to distribute kiddy porn while in prison.

Michael Savage supports Moonbeam with over five large. Gov. Moonbeam and Dr. Moonbat.

Then consider what I say about Savage as "ribbing and ridicule".

You seem to be coming on with considerably more venom. But you are of course entitled to your opinion.
