Detroit Tigers Won the American League Pennant Today
Our of fairness, there was no rioting in 1968 (when the Tigers won the WS). There was in 1967, though.
Yup, the NBA is clearly an evil force in today's society.
</s> ?
Congrats to the Tigers - and what a highlight way to reach the World Series. They look like a team of destiny.
And just think. The weather in Michigan has turned cold just in time for rioters to warm the city with all those burned cars and buildings in celebration.
When I moved to Dallas in 1986, it seemed half of Detroit had moved with me. Businesses, too. Highland Appliance and Fretter Appliance, to name two, and don't forget Domino's and Little Ceasars, both of whose owners have been successive owners of the Tigers.
Wish I could have brought Whataburger and Grandy's back up north with me!
You don't have Whataburger up there? Oh, my...maybe you should get a franchise...LOL
My husband will eat ONLY Whataburgers, unless we cook out on the grill.
The Grandys near me closed a year or so ago...replaced by a Tex-Mex place.
Hey, if you can get a fourth ticket, I'll fly out and join you!

A Tigers-Cardinals rematch would be cool. We still got Denny McClain. Is Bob Gibson still around?
Heh heh. My worst playoffs memory is the I-70 series. The Cards and the Royals. Just awful.
"Called strike three! And he stood there, like a house, by the side of the road!"
"And a fan from Kalamazoo, Michigan, made a great catch on that foul ball!"
I would love to open a Whataburger franchise, but I suspect it would be hard to truck supplies this far from the nearest state with one.
I really, really miss Grandy's scrambled eggs breakfast with grits, bacon, biscuits and gravy and sausage.
LOL...I'm not thinking so.
I very much remember the I-70 series...
My sister lived in Kansas City at the time...she all of a sudden became a BIG Royals fan that year...
In Texas, we have been praying for an I-45 series for years...but, I think now the Rangers would just settle for getting into the play-offs again, just once...LOL
The bigger question,
Would anyone notice a difference if they were ;)
If you got it, you got it....if you didn't, you didn't and I won't expand on my point. Have a good evening.
Ah, the A's - Choke artists once again.
I'm a Yankees fan. And the fact that the Tigers wallopped Oakland proves it was no fluke that they beat NY. I wouldn't have wanted to lose to a lesser team.
Incidentally, he said something true about Detroit. You responded with a shot at the other teams.
Who's nasty?
We've got to make it so that nobody loses. That way, nobody's self-esteem is damaged. So Oakland is also a winning team and they will travel to the world series and sit in the Detroit dugout and share in the glory.
That is the only way it should be.
