HE South Korean Government has demanded that the US provide it with a detailed "nuclear umbrella" guarantee against attack from the North.
"Due to public anxiety, I have stressed the need for anuclear umbrella from the US," Defence Minister Yoon Kwang-ung told the National Assembly yesterday, in his first detailed response to Monday's nuclear bomb test by the Pyongyang regime.

The nuclear shield won't help Seoul which can be reduced to rubble in a matter of hours by all of NK's artillery positions currently honed in on it.

This was part of the settlement after a more junior Mr Rumsfeld was Washington's envoy, who "thumped the table" to stop Seoul from pursuing an independent nuclear capability. Oh I get it... because Rumsfeld "thumped the table" over South Korea getting nukes, it is all our fault.

We should heavily arm Japan then tell the Koreans (north and south) to go F#@! off.
Sounds like a great plan! When do we start?

S Korea demands US nuclear shield-(demand?) Isn't this what always precedes flag burning because of our militant foreign policy?

Japan should tell China in no uncertain terms that they have 30 days to take care of their Chia pet problem or they are fully arming themselves with thermonuclear weapons that will be pointed east north east.
---
Uh, east north east would be pointed more or less at the U.S. I presume you have another direction in mind.

That wouldn't bother Kim Jong Il. He has bunkers that can survive a direct hit from an 20 KT warhead. They've been digging shelters for decades in NK.

The converted it into a ballistic missile. I am annoyed with South Korea though, the have been behaving like a spoiled child, deciding the have the right to "demand" anything. Build your own nukes, and scrap the "sunshine" idiocy.

Mr Yoon would seek detailed information on how the US planned to respond to various levels of threat and the types of tactical nuclear weapons to be used in different cases Not a chance! Demanding a defense shield is bold enough, but to ask for when/where/how the US will use nuclear weapons is beyond bold in my opinion. No future US President is going to want to be bound by what happens in 2006 with respect to using nukes.

DungeonMaster,
Oh reary ?
In a way, The South Korean civilian population (and POLITICIANS) mirror the Muslim world and Islamofascists ...
After listening for 30 years how much the South Koreans HATE the United States, we should now simply tell them that we've decided to leave their sorry asses to the BARBARIAN Kim Il Sun ...
Until (or unless) the South Korean public "kicks ass" against their own Leftist Brethern (always protesting the United States) ... then I say it's (now) time for us to leave ... and then watch their South Korean teenaged daughters and sons be paraded as captives (after being raped and pillaged) in next year's North Korean May Day parade ...
Dittos for the Moslem world, and especially (allegedly) U.S citizens who follow Islam ... Either "kick ass" against America's Sworn Blood Enemies ... or be "flat-ass" DEPORTED ... NOW.

I saw a post in a South Korean newspaper describing what leftist there thought:
"What is wrong with North Korea having nuclear weapons? After unification they will be ours as well."
Sometimes I hope that I will wake up to find that the Left never existed... that this is all some surreal kooky nightmare I am having.

A country of over 40,000,000 and you condemn them because you see a picture of fewer than 100 protesting us.
Given the numbers of NK sleepers, infiltrators and agents provacateur active in ROK how likely do you think it is that it is they who instigate and organize these protests?
