I'd love to talk to the tax advisor who figured out how Harry Reid could make $1.1M on a land deal and then NOT receive it in cash but in an equity stake in a partnership and NOT have to declare it as income. That would be freakin' sweet.

Not only has the land in Vegas not decreases, it can increase by 2 to 4 times by getting it rezoned as C-1/C-2 which is what a shopping center would be. In about 95% of cases, zoning variances in Las Vegas go DOWN in use, not up. Commercial land is being rezoned as residential all over the place and commercial land is getting scarce.

Reid bought his oldest son the Chairmanship of the Clark County Commission a couple of years ago as a Christmas present (Clark County comprises all of southern nevada which is developed, basically). Its basically the most powerful elected position aside from Governor, or arguably more powerful. Harry is setting things up so his oldest son can run for and take over his Senate seat when he gets Daschle'd.

Great story. This deal just stinks of corruption. I knew the "culture of corruption" BS would blow up on the Dems. This needs to be fully persued.
