C'mon folks, be realistic. Most of us want the GOP to win next month, but with the Foley scandal going on and the GOP being distracted and all the polls showing a huge Dem pickup, don't you think this article is a little exercise in wishful thinking ?

Bingo!

I fully expect the Foley Scandal to ruin the Republican prospects nationally just like the Wellstone funeral ruined our chances to win the Senate race in Minnesota.

“It is an article of faith among the media elite that the average American voter out there in fly-over country is a dolt, totally incapable of sifting out the political wheat from the political chaff.”

More like pickin' the corn kernels out of a voluminous, bowel movement.

the dims are "b*lls to the wall" to get one or both houses dim so the impeachment proceedings can begin, sickening Americans with the non-stop coverage where they'll vote for a woman president just to hear something else on the news, a la Watergate.

Web sites such as the top-rated NewsMax.com, Lucianne.com and Matt Drudge

Phil, you should put FRee Republic ahead of Lucianne and Drudge.

We're going to win. Our little buddy in North Korea just assured that.

Are you going to stay home, or do you merely predict that everyone else will?

The Foley story has already run out of steam. There will be other "scandals" before the election, but I doubt they will have any real effect.

I think I'd like to see the GOP maintain control of the House by 1 vote. 218 to 217. Then the DUmmies will totally flip, having missed the prize by just a single seat.

What? I have yet to see a "REAL POLL"...all the libnutmedia has done is produce faked skewed polls, whereby they poll a much higher percentage of dims over GOPers.

Yawn. The dims won't gain a thing and they damn sure won't control anything in Congress.

Who are all these people?

but with the Foley scandal going on and the GOP being distracted and all the polls showing a huge Dem pickup,

The Foley "scandal" is only a scandal to the Media & the Left.

The GOP is always "distracted" about something - but it isn't the GOP who goes into the voting booth - it's us.

When your poll samples are 59% dems and 39% Republicans - the poll results are obviously going to show a huge dem pickup. Those same polls showed JFKerry winning in 2004.

Define win. Is wining picking up seats in the House or Senate? If that's the definition then I don't think we're going to win next month. If, on the other hand, his definition of 'win' is still retaining the House or Senate then I'd argue against that definition. If we hold Congress with fewer seats then I'd classify that as losing, but not as badly as we could have.

Perhaps but there are some bits of truth.

If democrats don't win BOTH houses and win by comfortable amounts then they are toast.

In order to be viable they need BOTH houses.

I am not buying the "we are doooooooomed" hype. Democrats have cried wolf too many times, hippies have smoked pot too many times, and GWBush has been misunderestimated too many times.

avoid the YouTube censorship attempt with above links. youTube slapped a controversial label on it ONLY because it was against democrats. The anti-republican stuff is still open to all

This article is spot on its prescription.

The get-out-the-vote machinery of the Republicans is flexing and getting ready to be put on display.

Just about everything the media has been doing has been designed to depress the vote. Their major messages have been corruption, dems are far ahead, people want change, iraq is awful, dems far ahead, no chance, no chance, Foley, Foley, Foley.

If they're working that hard to suppress the vote, then what is it logical to conclude that they most fear?

I know a lot of conservatives and not one has indicated to me that he or she will sit out the election or vote for a liberal out of spite.

Some Independents may well do that but the regular conservatives won't.

I'm part of that whole "religious right" thingy and the idea that I would vote for a pro-gay marriage/pro-abortion/pro-illegal alien lefty is as laughable as the idea that I wouldn't vote at all.

"...with the Foley scandal going on and the GOP being distracted and all the polls showing a huge Dem pickup, don't you think this article is a little exercise in wishful thinking ?"

"Wag the Fag" has blown up in the Left's face. They were planning on Foley sticking around, but when he promptly resigned, all their plans were for nought.

In addition, "Wag the Fag" was planned for ten days before the election, but Bush's emphasis on the impact of a Democrat congress on national security had legs and the polls started moving to the Republican's advantage.

AND, the mainstream press polls always oversample Democrats.

The Democrats are looking at an impending disaster in November, and they know it.

No I don't. If I believed everything I read in newspapers I might think that way, but I don't believe in most polls and I don't believe most people give a rats ass about the so called Foley scandal. Foley was a corrupt congressman and both sides have a handful of those.
