A magnifying trick.
If the Christian base of the GOP gets its way, All government employees federal, state and local would be required to participate in weekly Bible classes in the workplace, as well as compulsory daily prayer sessions. We would all have to carry religious identity cards that would provide Christocrats with preferential treatment in many areas of life, including home ownership, student loans, employment and education. Non-Christians would be indulged as second-class citizens, but younger members ... would be strongly encouraged to formally convert to the dominant evangelical Christianity. Homosexual sex would be illegalized, while known homosexuals and lesbians would have to successfully undergo government-sponsored reeducation sessions if they applied for any public-sector jobs. Dissidents would be on the run, the popular culture censored by bureaucratic Cotton Mathers, and the mainstream press and the electronic media would be beaten into submission.

They have got to be kidding....right? If not what have they been smoking to be come so deluded?
by the way it is Bush's fault that they are to crazy! lol ;-)
Above all other characteristics, the Left is most reliably identified by its hatred and fear of God.
Liberals, if you can't laugh at them..... what good are they?
Actually replace the word(s) Christian with Islamic, replace homosexuals being reeducated with homosexuals being killed, and this blurb gives a pretty good description of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Nicely put. I get the distinct impression that certain, er, "imaginative" progressives actually want to live in the world of V For Vendetta - life as one big first-person shooter and a reset button always handy. Inasmuch as there is no real-world consequence of them indulging this paranoia and a gigantic support group available to validate it, one can see just how seductive it might become.
The difficulty is that you can't actually run a country that way. We needed a reset button under Carter badly and we're still living with those consequences.
It is always interesting that the Liberals are the ones that decry the end of free speech as we know it and the abolishment of the Constitution while at the same time being the purveyors of hate/crime/speech/thought laws.
My reaction to this kind of thing is to ask a question:
What will these people do if they come into positions of power?
I suspect the answer is that they will undertake to restrict the activities and influence of their perceived "enemies". They will do this as an act of self-preservation. Note the restrictions on religious expression already in effect here in the U.S. and the much broader and more oppressive restrictions in place in some European countries and in Canada. At the very least we can
expect a push to emulate these other nations.
The democrat party is home to many of these lunatics. If democrats take power again there will be attempts to further restrict religious expression. All for the "greater good". Hand-in-hand with this will come an even greater rejection of any morality of any kind (save that of the secular government).
You've got that right. These people are projecting their own tyrannical power fantasies onto the ones they are looking forward to suppressing when they get the chance, as their secularist counterparts in Canada and Europed are already doing.
(Stolen from another freepers posting this morning)
Saudi Arabia - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bibles are illegal. Churches are illegal.
Yemen - Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims and forbids conversions. The Government does not allow the building of new non-Muslim places of worship.
Kuwait - Registration and licensing of religious groups. Members of religions not sanctioned in the Koran may not build places of worship. Prohibits organized religious education for religions other than Islam.
Egypt - Islam is the official state religion and primary source of legislation. Accordingly, religious practices that conflict with Islamic law are prohibited. Muslims may face legal problems if they convert to another faith. Requires non-Muslims to obtain what is now a presidential decree to build a place of worship.
Algeria - The law prohibits public assembly for purposes of practicing a faith other than Islam. Non-Islamic proselytizing is illegal, and the Government restricts the importation of non-Islamic literature for distribution.
Jordan - Has the death penalty for any Muslim selling land to a Jew.
Sudan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death.
Pakistan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims. Christians regularly put in prison for charges of blasphemy. Islam is the state religion, and in a court of law the testimony of a Christian carries less weight than that of a Muslim. Section 295(c) of the Penal Code calls for a death sentence for anyone who defiles the name of the Prophet Muhammad and requires the testimony of four Muslims for a conviction. This fosters an environment in which Muslims can feel free to use intimidation and violence against religious minorities for personal gain.
Qatar - Islamic instruction is compulsory in public schools. The government regulates the publication, importation, and distribution of non-Islamic religious literature. The government continues to prohibit proselytizing of Muslims by non-Muslims.
Malaysia - Under Malaysian law, any convert to Christianity must apply to a shariah (Muslim law) court to legally renounce Islam. Many Christians prefer to remain silent converts rather than take their battle to the shariah courts, where apostasy or conversion out of Islam is punishable by whipping, fines, imprisonment and--in the most extreme application--death.
The Maldives - In the island paradise visited by tens of thousands of tourists each year, Christianity is simply not tolerated. While local Christians said to number around 300 out of a total population of 300,000 do get together to worship, they do so at the risk of imprisonment or worse if discovered by the Muslim authorities. Bibles are banned, and tourists can be arrested for trying to bring them into the country.

Neoliberalism is a mental disorder.
You express skepticism. Every Sunday, after Church, I get together with my Evangelical buds and we work on designs for the National Christian Identity Card and on layouts for the Homosexual Concentration Camps. Really.
What liberals do is bypass the people when they want a law changed. They run to a liberal judge to get a ruling in their favor... Liberals, if your worst nightmare is that we'll be like you ... what does that tell you about yourselves???
In addition the liberals will ban/regulate anything that they "don't like" Trans-fats,SUV's, smoking, incandescent lightbulbs, conservative radio, religious (Christian only) expression. Meanwhile they will accuse the Religious Right of "imposing their will" on everybody.
The whole point of the Constitutional system is that political factions don't get their way when they want to usurp the rights of others.
Actually, that is not the case. The government can't keep people in jobs that require any sort of tech/legal skill (paper-shuffling drones for which there is no other demand, yes).
They are mostly very over paid for what they do, and with taxpayer money.
Fire and Police excluded of course.
Probably could balance the budget and pay back the national debt in 15 years in what they are all over paid IMO.
Really, who needs Scrappleface?
