It never seems to settle my kids down. On the contrary, it has the opposite effect.

Hydrogen sulfide gas, a favorite of laboratory pranksters, appears to also induce a state of suspended animation in mice.

....and wives.

I knew that by testing it on my ex. I'd let one go in bed... then drag the sheets up over her head.

In certain quantities, such as found when drilling a gas well, Hydrogen sulphide will kill you with a couple of breaths.

I worked on a well where three men died, one after the other as each one went to the others rescue.

We even had a flare gun to set the well on fire in case of an uncontrollable blow out.

Besides methane is what the title describes.

Major supplier is PMF Industries. "Pull My Finger"

The new study, presented at the recent American Physiological Society conference, built on earlier research which found that when mice breathed the gas, they went into a hibernation-like state

Silly scientists. They were just trying to hold their breath until the smell went away.

Known for its rotten egg smell, hydrogen sulfide gas occurs naturally in swamps, springs and volcanoes.

Also known to occur naturally in Van Camp products, in brocolli, cabbage, collards and other high fiber vegetables; in bratworst, in egg salad, pizza, but especially in cheap wine and beer (Thunderbird and Mickey's)

Known for its rotten egg smell, hydrogen sulfide gas occurs naturally in swamps, springs and volcanoes. While usually harmless, it can be toxic if breathed in sufficient quantity.

How do we prevent Global warming from this "Natural" Gas, alGore, hello, hello???

Not exactly

What is sewer gas?

Sewer gas is a complex mixture of toxic and non-toxic gases that can be present at varying levels depending upon the source. It is formed during the decay of household and industrial waste. Highly toxic components of sewer gas include hydrogen sulfide and ammonia.

Sewer gas also contains methane, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrous oxides. In addition, chlorine bleaches, industrial solvents, and gasoline are frequently present in municipal and privately owned-sewage treatment systems.
