Is Alec Baldwin Auditioning for California Gubernatorial Candidate?
NewsBusters ^ | October 19, 2006 | P.J. Gladnick

Posted on 10/10/2006 9:05:37 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

With the Phil Angelides California gubernatorial campaign fizzling out, it now sounds like Alec Baldwin is casting himself for that role. Baldwin's not so subtle auditioning pitch to become the Democrat gubernatorial candidate in California comes at the tail end of a typically rabid anti-Republican rant in his Huffingon Post blog:

Sad to think that it took the Foley situation to get the "Embarrassed Republicans" to start voicing their embarrassment. Nearly six years of lies, incompetence, lies, hate, lies, corruption, lies and war. Misguided, meaningless war that has destroyed the landscape of Iraq and the souls of the Iraqi people. And what has the war done for us, other than line the pockets of Bush, and his father's friends?

Well, you know what they say, you can lie to the American people, take us into an ill-conceived war and subvert the Constitution in the process, but you diddle one page...and it's over. I hope it's over. I'll take the end of what Gingrich started, regardless of how we get there. If it's Mark Foley's body we step over, and hopefully Hastert's as well, then so be it.

DeLay may get away. Cheney. Novak. Armitage. Rumsfeld. All your crypto-facist scum, as well. Bush, too, who will have no trouble raising money from his war-profiteering friends for a library which, I would imagine, will be the most poorly attended of any in our history. That's one certainty we can see on the horizon. Bush really is the worst president in American history. I almost feel sorry for him. Talked into the whole thing by his Dad's cronies. Unskilled. Unprepared. Just a bible in one hand and a copy of the "The Prince" in the other. How many of us knew this would never come to any good? How many of us could smell this guy 500 miles away? 9/11, the most defining moment in our recent history, perhaps in all of our history because it happened while we are perceived as the lone Superpower, and Bush can't get any traction, can't get out of the mud. He's got nothing. Nothing left. Mark Foley's lewd e-mails may actually bring him down. The Embarrassed Republicans want to get this over with. If it was a show on Broadway, it would be closing. The investors want out.

Unfortunately, we don't have that scenario in New York City. A story in yesterday's Times about students disrupting a speech at Columbia by the spokesman for the Minutemen group. They stormed the stage, etc. Mayor Mike "I'll Spend Even More If I Have To" Bloomberg said it was wrong to censor the speaker. This is the same great New York mayor who denied permits to protesters in Central Park during the 2004 Republican convention. No protests! During a convention! IN NEW YORK!!! I have many friends who have bought into Bloomberg's bullsh*t. Democrats who have forgotten the four "outer boroughs. I think Bloomberg is smart. He's a gentleman. And he's a phony. A Republican who bent over for this administration, which has done NOTHING for New York. If 9/11 happened in Houston, things would have been a lot different.

In California, it seems as surreal as ever. Forget about education and skills and temperament and insight. Phil Angelides has no stock footage of him running from exploding trucks. He hasn't been seen dangling from helicopters, or snapping the necks of terrorists or aliens. Arnold has killed aliens with his bare hands. I suppose there are those who hope he will dispose of some other aliens as well. The California Democratic Party's ineptitude ought to be a lesson to the National Dems. They better start "casting." Casting the role of someone who, in the minds of media-drenched Americans, looks and sounds like a President.

WHEW! Okay, we get the point, Alec. You really, really don't like Republicans and you seem to be casting yourself for the role of a gubernatorial candidate who looks and sounds presidential. Of course, to the Democrats of today, sounding presidential means you have to sound like a crazed moonbat afflicted with BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome).

I remember about 7 years or so ago when Baldwin went on a pseudo campaign bus into Connecticut. He sort of acted like he was campaigning for something but for what, who knows? He was just acting the part of a candidate but not for any film role. A magazine covered this pseudo campaign in all its hilarity.

Which candidate is he auditioning for, and why would he need to audition for one anyway? Is one of the candidates a Hollywood producer?

Robert Redford, several years ago, announced his candidacy for senator in California. The voters treated it as a joke. Baldwin comes off as even nuttier and certainly less literate than Redford.

His SNL Christmas 'Shwetty Balls' and gay Boy Scoutmaster skits will surely catapult him into the California governor's house.

Heh..

Some celebrities - specifically Alec Baldwin - are just really aggravating and annoying to get along with, according to one source on his new movie set. Alec Baldwin was reportedly a "tyrant" to Sarah Michelle Geller and the rest of the crew on the set of their new movie.

Alec Baldwin has spoken out in defense of fellow screen star Tom Cruise's Scientology beliefs, insisting followers of his controversial faith are not nearly as worrying as those who "drove planes into the World Trade Center."

Divorce has made Alec Baldwin want to cringe and look the other way. The actor has revealed he's had his share of bad days where he thought he just couldn't take it anymore. He says his divorce battle with ex-wife Kim Basinger was so hard he "wanted to die."

It looks like Brendan Fraser will play 1970s designer Halston in a biopic. Alec Baldwin had expressed interest in the part but was deemed too old and too plump to play the designer.

From Netscape News...... This guy has major problems.

This SOB is a white knuckled drunk with a terrible temper. He has too many issues to deal with before he were to ever think about running for any office. He is a despicable human being.

I'm watching Alec Baldwin as Robert McNamara in "Path to War".

Pretty good performance.

Baldwin should stick to acting. And never open his mouth about anything else.

Yeah, here's a potential candidate that can't even get his own family to vote for him.

Baldwin is a complete idiot. What qualifies him to run for dogcatcher? His high school diploma? He is a fat, washed up, spouse abusing actor with no chance of getting elected to anything of consequence. A Baldwin candidacy would be great news for talk radio, though. Rush and Hannity would rip him a new one every day!
