WASHINGTON — In an unusual move, the Republican National Committee is investing heavily in television advertising in Senate races in Ohio, Tennessee and Missouri in what officials describe as a firewall strategy designed to limit Democratic gains in the Nov. 7 elections and maintain the GOP majority.

The move reflects a desire on the part of Ken Mehlman, the Republican Party chairman, and other strategists to exercise more control over the drive to retain a majority, according to several Republican officials. They said the decision has caused friction with officials at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which historically has been the only party entity to run commercials on behalf of its candidates.

Okay guys I need some motivation. I live here in Missouri and am scared that we are going to lose Jim Talent as a Senator and that Amendment 2, the Stem Cell Research or when is cloning not really cloning one, is going to pass big.

I am trying very hard to not be discouraged, but I see that we are behind in many races that I thought would be no problem. One must know, what goes on here? Have Americans gotten this stupid that they are about to turn this country over to the Dems during a time of war?

we can't give in to the media's campaign of misinformation. On the newsbreak today at the top of the hour, first story was about North Korea, second story was about a former page who said he had sex with Foley. Oh, but they neglected to mention the age of the guy, my guess is that they were referring to the 21 year old guy, for had this former page been underage, they would have most definitely mentioned the age.

Unfortunately, that is one place that is pretty depressing these days. The group I went to see and try to volunteer was trying to figure out how to blame this on GWB and that it was just bad timing. I got very ticked and left. Maybe I should try directly with one of the Republican candidates here in Missouri.

BTW...I am watching the Allen/Webb debate on C-span 1 right now...and I TRIED to not see any bias going in...but, the moderator is Russ Mitchell..a lib.

When he announced the two men, he pointedly said that Webb's resume is a LOT different than Allen's and he stressed the Chairman of the Navy...

Then, when asking him a question about Iraq...he AGAIN made sure that he stressed the head of the Navy job.

I am getting mad....I have GOT to quit paying attention to politics.

Sure, pinky-promise it is! Actually, I base this on the fact that the polls here, as well as the national polls that have highlighted this race are SO weighted on the Dem side, regardless of the truth on the ground. Inner-City ~ heavy Dems, LOW turn out in a non-Presidential year. Claire has gotten hit hard, rightfully so, for saying one thing on gun-control in the cities, another in the rural areas.

There is more, but I am thinking that while this will be close (thanks to the dead people voting in St. Louis and Kansas City, and to the trailer/welfare families in the country) but I see a win here...

I so understand, I am very lucky that my BP runs so low that I am close to, well, dead. It's that fact that allows me to handle politics these days.

I do think many, on the right and independents, see the bias. If not, we would not have won in 2000. 2002 or 2004. Could we lose this time? Sure. But I smell a Rat backlash, big time. They are talking about a gay guy, and NK tests a nuke....
