Photo evidence of the Islamic Republic's coordinating Iraq's insurgency.

  • Roads to Iraq and Iraqi blog reported that after a fierce battle in “Khan Bani Sa’ad” Diyala governorate north of Baghdad with “Mahdi Army”, Iraqi resistance succeeded to capture one of the “Mahdi Army”. They found a complete modern communications system manufacturing in the Ministry of Defense of Iran believed to be used as a direct contact with the Iranians. Photos.
  • CNN News reported that a Shiite Muslim militia involved in the warfare between Sunni and Shiites in Iraq has received "millions of dollars" and an assortment of weaponry from Iran, a senior U.S. military official says.
  • Reuters reported that a senior U.S. military official said Iran is funneling weapons and cash to buy the loyalty of armed groups in Iraq, but its long- term influence is bound to wane as Iraqis focus more on their own interests.
  • Eli Lake, The New York Sun reported that Iraq's president is issuing an ultimatum to his neighbors: Stop meddling in my country or we will meddle in yours.

Hezbollah: made in Iran.

  • Bloomberg reported that Hezbollah in Lebanon is striving to win the peace, aided by what the U.S. Treasury Department estimates is a $200 million budget from Iran.
  • Ilan Berman, American Foreign Policy Council testified before a congressional subcommittee on the Islamic Republic's role in creating Lebanon's Hezbollah. He examined the ideology, financing, training, logistics, weaponry, security guarantees and future of Hezbollah.

Iranians ignore CNN.

  • Salon reported that while the Islamic Republic bans satellite dishes and blocks Internet sites, Iranians tend to ignore CNN anyway.

Ahmadinejad won't halt enrichment for a single day.

  • Yahoo News reported that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday rejected demands saying: "They asked for a one-day halt (of uranium enrichment). We said we won't do it."

Islamic Republic seeks security guarantees.

  • Islamic Republic News Agency reported that Iranian foreign ministry officials said Iran is calling for a new security strategy in the Middle East and Persian Gulf based on active contribution of all regional states and exit of foreign troops from the region.

The White House gives talks a few more weeks.

  • The Washington Times reported that the Bush administration yesterday postponed its pursuit of U.N. sanctions against Iran for "a few weeks" to allow its European allies time to try to negotiate a suspension of Iran's nuclear fuel production.

Zogby poll: Americans oppose military action on Iran.

  • Reuters reported that a Reuters/Zogby poll claimed that a majority of Americans want the United States to increase diplomatic efforts over Iran's nuclear ambitions, while 70 percent oppose the use of U.S. troops to thwart Iran.

Congress passes mandatory sanctions on Iran.

  • The International Herald Tribune reported that the House of Representatives voted Thursday to impose mandatory sanctions on entities that provide goods or services for Iran's weapons programs.

The unrest and human rights violation inside of Iran.

  • Amnesty International sent out an urgent action report that seven Iranian women are at risk of execution by stoning.
  • Iran Press News reported that in an interview with the Al-Arabiyya TV , Ayatollah Khomeini's grandson Ayatollah Hussein Khomeini said that the current Iranian regime was "a dictatorship of clerics who control every aspect of life," and called for foreign intervention to topple the regime.
  • Iran Press News reported the Islamic Republic's taking farmland by force and the subsequent protest and unrest in the village of Kamdarreh. A first hand report by local activists.
  • Iran Press News reported that Omid Abbass-Gholinezhad director of public relations of Iran’s Democratic Front was arrested by the secret police of the ministry of intelligence and security charged with taking part in a peaceful gathering of the families of political prisoners in front of the United Nations branch in Tehran.
  • Iran Press News reported that based on received reports, five young activists, residents of the town of Mákoú (Province of West Azerbaijan) were arrested on Friday, September 22nd for distributing bulletins.
  • Iran Press News reported that Revolutionary Guard Ghaliboff, Tehran’s mayor confessed to the devastating spread of poverty and unemployment in the Mullah government and said: "We cannot be poor and keep chanting about fighting America."
  • Iran Press News reported on the status of two student activist Kheirollah Derakhshandi and Abolfazl Jahandar who are reportedly being held in Evin prison’s infamous ward 209, is not only ambiguous but there is great concern for their safety as well.

  • Michael Rubin, The Corner reminded us that "Taqiya" is, in Islamic jurisprudence, religiously-sanctioned lying. Many Islamists feel justified saying one thing to a Western audience, and quite another to fellow Islamists.

There are many inside of Iran that are looking for an excuse to vent their anger at the regime. But the regime has been masteful at using the right pressure to keep things from spinning out of control... so far.

Last night is just more example and even this story could reignite.


BTW for my readers....

Please be patient with these old posts. I want to catch up and I will posting several tonight. I hope you enjoy the under reported stories here.
