We will do nothing. Bush once said we would not tolerate a nuclear nk. Silence of late. Bush once said the world will not tolerate a nuclear Iran, now we want them to have a nuclear program just not a bomb. The old kick the can down the road. We will do nothing.

Why so cynical? I'm certain we'll see at the least the same level of commitment mouthed to kill or bring bin Laden to justice immediately after 9-11.

We will do nothing.

We will do nothing because there really is very little we can do. We, and our allies, stand to lose the most from a major war breaking out in Asia. North Korea has nothing...they have nothing to lose. If the world economy tanks, Kim Jong Il yawns and says "so what?" Not so for us, no so for Japan or South Korea or even Russia and China. Kim Jong Il knows that China nor Russia will tolerate an expansion of U.S. or Japanese influence and power in NK. He can play us all off each other over and over again.

And on top of all that, we probably don't have the capability of successfully fighting yet another war of conquest without serious domestic sacrifice...and that's not going to happen either.

All that's going to happen is super-heated rhetoric.

IF what you just said about Bush proves true, we have a major failure on our hands. These situations either are unacceptable or not, they are threats or not, and we either stop them or we don't. There comes a point where the rubber has to meet the road. In the end I don't want my security lost while we play nice with our new found "friends" the Chinese, et al.

I agree.

What would we do attack NK, risk an attack on our soil?

There isn't much we can do at this point, militarily, though we can start the process of isolating N.K even further in the world.

As for those who say they probably didn't test it and this is all a joke, even Kim is not so nuts as to fake a nuclear test.

This is real.
