In London, sex scandals come along every other week. You name it, British parliamentarians do it: three-in-a-bed, auto-erotic asphyxiation, gay teen flagellation, getting your toes sucked while wearing the soccer kit of Chelsea Football Club. But at least at Westminster, sex scandals require actual sex. That the governing party of the world's only superpower could be felled by one creepy pervert's masturbatory e-mails and IMs is an event historians will marvel at. Granted that the Roman Empire in its death throes got hung up on gay sex, the American hyperpower seems set to be the first to collapse over gay non-sex.
And no, I'm not a "typical right-wing pedophile apologist" excusing Foley. But, in case you haven't noticed, he's gone. He quit quicker than his instant message. And, true, he's since done the usual contemptible redemption shtick, announcing he's going into alcohol rehab, etc., when the reality is he'd be a better man if he drank more and IMed teens about the size of their wedding tackle less. And yes, he'll get a book deal, just like New Jersey's revolting ex-governor. (snip) When a member of the House of Lords went abroad after a homosexual scandal, King George V is said to have remarked, "Good God, I thought fellows like that shot themselves." It may, indeed, be a less revolting spectacle for a chap to take a tumbler of whiskey and a loaded revolver into his study than to go on "Oprah" and bore on about his personal demons, abusive father, etc., etc. But we live in different times. [snip] But I very much doubt, despite the expertise with which the sheep have been rounded up and set baa-ing, that Showtime at the Foley Bergere will pay off in November.

"That the governing party of the world's only superpower could be felled by one creepy pervert's masturbatory e-mails and IMs is an event historians will marvel at."
Such is the attempts at power ghraibs by the liberal establishment media in America. And yet some still deny there is bias.
Yes this was a non-story, fabricated by partisan hacks, and hustled on the news hour by Disney. I say boycott them through Christmas.
La la la la. Despots acted like they cared because they knew a good lie about a homosexual would turn off some social conservatives about the Republican party in general.
This is just an effort to "block the vote" by getting some voters fed up enough to stay home. And for that, I do believe it is fair to boycott parent corp. Disney.
So we look silly because our sex scandals are too tame?
Personally, I think they may have it backwards.
Actually, it's what Bill Clinton never understood about our half of America when he sullied the Oval Office. His behavior brought us down to the level of other morally relativistic countries and they loved it. Just like the Dhimmis are loving it now. We don't want people like Foley in our government. The Dems welcome them. Then eat them when it's politically convenient.
The adolescent nature of the Democrat mind drives their politics. Theyre like teenagers without parents.
They dont want to fight unavoidable battles or to think people need to work for a living. They believe any falsehood disguised as science as long as its scary enough and theyre naturally drawn to anything that adults find repulsive.
People have to understand the page "scandal" in the larger context. It is about political power, and how a political party with no visible means of popular support and totally lacking in any identifiable principles can possibly achieve ascendency in the current climate.
By throwing everything overboard concerning one of their few sure constituencies. Homosexuality is now Bad, as is pedophilia, and same-sex pedophilia is indistingishable from all other aspects of homosexuality. That is how the position of the Dem'crats has shifted.
A curious strategy, in many ways. Are the Dem'crats now going to try to attach all the stigma of being a homosexual to ALL Republicans, or is it only the apostate few homosexuals who happen to be Republican? Are all homosexuals going to be read out of the Dem'crat party now? Whatever happened to "If it feels good, do it"? Or are homosexual acts that are engaged in while "under the influence" going to be made an exception?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Uh, maybe not. But SOMEBODY has a dilemma to solve.
Dems using gay bashing to...um...uh...fire down their base?
Another brilliant election strategy: Get gays mad at Dems, help ensure any state marriage ammendments pass and fire up GOP base.
BTW: I hope Rush lets Mark sit in for him more often when he is gone. He does an outstanding job sitting in for Rush.
Well, just who looks silly here, the adults in charge, or the KosKiddies, DUmpster divers and the near-insane homosexual radicals leading this bathhouse putsch?
We did not elect the MSM to run our country, as they have been trying to do for 40 years.
It is time that we told them so, LOUD AND CLEAR.
That's just SICK! Everyone knows it should be Manchester United!
He declared Mark Foley's pants a federal disaster area. He voted a $4 billion reconstruction earmark to the congress- ional page program and invited Dubai Page World to run it.
Then hows about this, Mr. Steyn...?
Ethics Probes Decline On Hill Parties' Truce Leads to Inaction
Personally, I think they're related.
And symptomatic of something that's far from silly.
FWIW, I' m less worried about the MSM than I am the liars, crook, and perverts on the Hill.
Make that crooks, plural. We should be so lucky for the singular to apply.
May I just use this forum to say my opinion is in this day of "Call me Mark, not Mr. Foley" is the reason there was once a line drawn for elders and minors. Yes, respect was part of the reason, but there was also a sence of relationship order, security if you will.
How Many time have we heard adults tell kids just call me...first name basis?
No longer are we or our children really sure about the nature of an adult to child/adolescent relationship.
I think it's a little creepy to see my daughter go up to her friends dad and say " Hey Mike hows it going?" No, I don't like it. "Oh mom he's soooo cooool you can talk to him about anything." No. Why would you want to ? Why would he want to? You have to ask your children these questions. Why would you be talking to a 42 year old man about anything? Yea your right, it is a little strange my daughter said. But hes nice. Yes he is nice and he will still be nice being called Mr.Jackson(even in the south Mr. Mike), now he knows where he stands.
There is a reason we call people by there last name..they are still strangers to us. First names are pretty personal.
Dont let your children accept this behavior from adults. Keep them safe.
So...when's it gonna be Barney Frank's turn, I wonder?
