Chris Matthews Sunday Show
As usual, Andrew Sullivan equates everything to Republicans being anti-gay. Tucker Carlson tells Andrew Sullivan every organization in this administration has a Gay Pride Day. Carlson tells Sullivan "gay" is not the issue driving republican angst. It's immigration and the war. (Smack down Andrew, everything isn't about you!)
12 of the Matthews regulars say Foley news will depress republican vote. (This is my favorite prediction = I think just the opposite. I think cocky dems will stay home. The pollsters are ignoring all the broken glass.)
Big picture, connect the dots Maureen Dowd says Republican women will be turned off by Republicans who are hurting kids in Iraq and in the Page program. (How's that for combining two polar opposite issues into one?) Matthews had asked specifically how women's vote will be affected this Nov.
Sullivan and Nora O'Donnell agree, the Foley scandal isn't about gays, it's about abusive behavior. (Women just hate that, dontchaknow, while according to their logic, men don't mind so much.)
Tucker says everyone in our washington world has disgust for evangelical vote. (I agree) Tucker is very firm on this and to prove his point, he even says people he works with, and people who live on his street feel this way. (If Tucker's house gets egged, if he isn't invited to potluck dinners, you'll know he ticked off his neighbors)
Bush is like Hastert, blaming everyone else, says Maureen Dowd on Bush's war in Iraq. She said "not taking responsibility is a Republican thing.
Tucker says Senator Warner only now coming out against the war??? All of us are guilty of that, he says. "Not everyone, not me", said Chris Matthews, who must now want it on the record, he never supported the War. (he sounded just like a bratty brother blaming the mess on his little sister)
Nora O'Donnell said the Bush administration thought they had 3 good weeks, now they've lost momentum, with Foley and the Woodward book dominating the news
And wouldn't you know, Chris Matthews has to make fun of Tony Snow because of an old radio ad on home repairs, still being on the air. Lets hope what Snow is selling on Bush's war, is better than his selling job in this ad, Matthews mocks. Of course Matthews would want to make fun of Tony, he's no doubt very aware how effective Tony is.
Matthews gets around to discussing Hillary. What kind of woman is she?, he asks. Maureen Dowd says polls out show 75% of democrats think Hillary should run, but the majority of them don't think she should win. The ever wannabee clever, and too cute by half Maureen says Hillary was the alpha male in the White House, now she's playing Geisha in the Senate, fetching coffee for members, etc.
Sullivan says Hillary's solution to winning White House is to be a warrior queen and make Bill Clinton her Sec of State.
Nora O'donnell says women are toughest on Hillary.
Tucker says Hillary would get majority of women vote. Tucker thinks Hillary would start more wars than Bush.
Andrew Sullivan says Foley's behavior was known since 1994, the republicans should have known.
Tucker Carlson said another congressman's name will come out, a heterosexual who has also abused pages. He will be named, said Tucker, and Chris Matthews says, "I agree". I don't think Carlson said which party this congressman belonged to, but for certain Carlson and Matthews know the name of this congressman, and it sounded like the "outing" will come soon.
(I suppose we could take bets on who it will be, both Carlson and Matthews looked gravely serious about this prediction, so I suspect it' a democrat...just my guess, but a good one.....why? Because a heterosexual republican page abuser's name would already be "out there".)
Uh oh, a C-Span caller is echoing Maureen Dowd. He says republicans can't protect pages any better than they can protect Dubai ports or protect the people either, oh and by the way, voting machines are in the hands of republicans, we can't trust election results. The host says, "we've got to do another program on those (pesky) voting machines, we seemed to have tapped into something".
Mark Steyn has a great piece on this Foley scandalette. His take is, in essence, have you all lost your minds.

No pic, but she was whining to the NYDaily news gossip - Rush & Mulloy about it.
LOL! Him and his publisher.
"FoxNews... Fair, Balanced, and Afraid of the left".
Funny you should bring up "we" who made them successful... they seem to have forgotten "our" part in their rise to being number one (and losing audience) in cable news.
LLS
Good Sunday morning to you.
Thanks for the thread. Methinks I'll have to hold my nose as I watch this morning ;-)
LOL!
She's still miffed that many conservatives have rejected her "infinite wisdom".

This is the new morning bombshell. Foley actually had sex with a 21 year old ex-page. However, it shows that Foley was nothing more than a classic chickenhawk, sizing up boys and then approaching them when they became legal. Disgusting, but very common approach by older homosexuals.
Apparently, Foley was a perv, but a smart one and no different than millions of other homosexuals. This is going to hurt the Dems with conservatives, it is their agenda that has allowed this situation to happen.
Apparently, all there is to really "know" is that he was a homosexual who was doing what homosexual men do...having sex with other men. If he spotted someone while they were underage, he waited to make overt moves until that inconvenience was out of the way. There is, so far, no evidence that he "preyed" in anyone underage. He was very aware of what the laws were, he was helping to write them, and he conciously avoided any criminal acts. What do dems want us to do with homosexuals exactly. I think someone should ask them.
And thanks for the great report.
Nice recap of the show, thanks YaYa, you saved my time by avoiding watching it.
Thanks for posting the awards.
Will not be around today as having a cooker (stove) installed and re-organising kitchen.
Will catch up on posts later hopefully if all goes well in kitchen
I won't buy the bor book, but I understand that 'Cultural Warrior' is bringing down bob's book. What a shame!!!!
Yep! So, I heard! Glad your back safe and sound though!
thanks, and i hope others do watch, if only to confirm what I thought most important: Tucker and Chris predicting a heterosexual congressman is about to get outted big time, for messing around with page(s).
