Wasn't the cooker supposed to come last week? I thought I remembered a comment about it earlier.
Do you remember the Monty Python skit about the endless queue of workers lined up to help install a new cooker for some poor sod in London? (there, that exhausts my English colloquialisms) I think that was where I first learned the "cooker" was the equivalent of our "stove." Of course, I also learned that a European stove is almost universally a very tiny thing compared to the American appliance. Same for almost everything else I came across in my one visit to Europe back in the 80s.
I guess it makes sense, though, since the average American house size is over 2,000 square feet and the average European house is under 1,000.
