Come hell or high water-ran the conventional wisdom-Republicans could rely on two issues to win elections: the war on terror and values. Then came Mark Foley. The drip-drip-drip of scandal surrounding the former Congressman from Florida, which became a deluge this week, now threatens to sink Republican hopes of keeping control of Congress, says the NEWSWEEK poll out today.
For the first time since 2001, the NEWSWEEK poll shows that more Americans trust the Democrats than the GOP on moral values and the war on terror. Fully 53 percent of Americans want the Democrats to win control of Congress next month, including 10 percent of Republicans, compared to just 35 percent who want the GOP to retain power. If the election were held today, 51 percent of likely voters would vote for the Democrat in their district versus 39 percent who would vote for the Republican.

I am highly sceptical.
No internals were posted, but another site is saying this was weighted an obscene amount. Nothing confirmed yet.

In the Dims Favor by at least 16%.
I think the GOP internal polls in Missouri show the Party in big trouble. Unfortunately, the Foley scandal doesn't sit right with the Show Me State.
Facts or not, I think Talent is in big trouble and from the grassroots movement for the GOP it's going to be uphill, IMHO, for him to take the Senate.
Hope I'm wrong, but the thing has snowballed out of control.
Weakly Reader for 3rd grade 'rats?
Thanks for sachem longrifle for finding the poll, but since you posted it as vanity with no link, it was moved to chat.
Here is the article with the correct title and link, it's definitely an article in Newsweek.
And actually in the hompage of Newsweek:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032542/site/newsweek/
they have a picture of Danny Hastert with the word "Meltdown" on it, and the text underneath says that the Foley scandal trheaten to sink Republicans' hopes to keep control of Congress, then the link goes to the article.
(To AM: just to let you know, that while SL may not have posted it correctly, he didn't make it up, it's a real article)
That NO Freepers are echoing what the public is supposedly telling Newsweak makes it pretty obvious they weighted their poll to generate a result that would validate their editorial line. UNTIL we can see some solid internals on this one, which they are withholding for some odd reason, I say this is pure unadulterated statistical manipulation. The Democrats game plan clearly is to try and depress GOP turn out since they KNOW they cannot win on the issues. It tell we can see the internals on this one it is just another "Flush the Koran" story from Newsweak
Meaningless. If you get 53% stated preference and you survey in Massachussetts more than you did last time, you'll get a trend.
This is an orchestrated drumbeat. The way you respond? Make your travel arrangements to go to vulnerable districts and help man phone banks in the final 72 hrs.
Its pretty clear that the MSM are slanting the polls the Dems way to discourage conservatives from voting on November 7. If they can convince enough people that "all is lost", then folks won't bother going to the polls. Don't let them fool you!!! You and your like minded friends/relatives must go to the polls on November 7.
So now rumor is repeated as fact? Why do the national polls show Talent ahead by 3?
because they trust the party that actually molests the kids(then elect judges that let those pedophiles off the hook with a slap on the wrist) and the party that actually steals $100,000 and then sticks it in their freezer... :\
This poll was taken Friday at unemployment offices across the street from bars nationwide. The question: "Would you vote for a dem for $1,000?" /sarc
Conveniently keeping the flame burning. Just coincidental I am sure. Talk about beating a dead horse. It sure is easy to see where the MSM biases are.
All these "Republicans will lose Congress" articles I'm going to repost and laugh.
It can be just as humorous, too. Unintentionally.
"In the Dims Favor by at least 16%."
I don't understand? Do they actually weigh it in favor of a percentage republican and democrat or did it just happen to be more democrats were randomly called?

Let these buffoons know what you think of their poll and excitement over returning, I mean over DEMOCRATS, returning to power.
