House Republicans Wants Democrats to Appear Before Ethics Committee
Human Events ^ | 10-06-2006 | Robert B. Bluey

Posted on 10/06/2006 11:57:43 AM PDT by 300magnum

Eleven House Republicans on Thursday told Democratic leaders they want them to appear before the House Ethics Committee to answer questions about what they may have known -- and failed to disclose -- about former Rep. Mark Foley's communications with congressional pages.

Led by Rep. Jack Kingston (Ga.), vice chairman of the House Republican Conference, the group sent letters to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rahm Emanuel (Ill.) and Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean. The Republicans say Democrats shouldn't be absolved from answering questions about the scandal, especially in light of suspicions that the crisis was orchestrated as a political move to harm Republicans.

Just as it must be determined whether any Republican Members or political operatives were aware of and attempted to conceal Mr. Foley’s activities, it must also be determined whether any Democrat Members or political operatives were aware of, and attempted to conceal these same activities.

Therefore, we respectfully ask that you appear, under oath, before the House Ethics Committee.

In addition to Kingston, signatories include Representatives Kay Granger (Tex.), Phil Gingrey (Ga.), Bill Shuster (Pa.), Lee Terry (Neb.), Tom Price (Ga.), Louie Gohmert (Tex.), Joe Wilson (S.C.), Lynn Westmoreland (Ga.), Roger Wicker (Miss.) and John Shadegg (Ariz.).

In a statement sent to bloggers late Thursday afternoon, Kingston said the following:

This sad episode should not be a partisan issue. It reflects poorly on the Congress as a whole and weakens the trust of the American people. In order to restore that trust we must complete this investigation in a thorough and non-partisan fashion. All Members of the House, our staff, and members of the public regardless of political party should come forward and provide whatever information they know. We need to get to the bottom of who knew about Mr. Foley's inexcusable actions, when did they know about it, when did they first become aware of the Instant Messages in question, and what did they do with that information. As Republicans we expect, and so far have seen, nothing less from our Leaders and today we are asking for the same full cooperation from Democratic Leaders.

Julie damn good post. We need facts right now, and you provided it.

On Sean Hannity tonight he reported that Pelsoi was in a San fran parade with the leader of the Pro Male Pedphile Group the ACLU protects.

Pelosi is not ready for Prime time

Yes....I heard Hannity say that she had marched with NAMBLA.

What annoyed me was NJ GOP Senate candidate Tom Kane, Jr. dumping on Hastert just to buy some Dem votes for himself.

I'm sorry I didn't catch the name of the republican congressman that was just on the repeat of O'Reilly, but Bill was asking him why they want Pelosi and her loser cronies to testify under oath on Foley and after Bill practically had to pull it out of him he finally said that we need to get to the bottom of it and find out who sat with the IM's all this time while children were left unprotected so the info could be used for political gain. But for the first few minutes the guy could not answer O'Reilly when he asked "why", I was sitting here yelling at the tv with the answer (my dog thinks I'm nuts when I do this)and O'Reilly, you could tell, didn't want to feed him the answer, he wanted the congressman to come to it on his own and when he finally did O'Reilly started grinning and said that was a good case he made. I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Man, we need some people that can speak for the party, no wonder everyday folks aren't getting the message! Come on GOP! Do us FReepers have to start appearing on these shows????!!!!!

"Yes....I heard Hannity say that she had marched with NAMBLA"

Not only one year, but I guess she had marched with them the last few years....this was mentioned on Hannity too.

Oh I also LOVE how the losers like Colmes and Laura Schwartz keep referring to the Studds affair as "consensual" sex--I am sure the soccer moms out there would not consider their 17 year old sons as consenting adults for sex with male congressman. I think we should do a poll on that one!

I agree; we need Gerry Studds to testify, too, if he hasn't died of AIDS by now.

Does she have a blue eye and a green eye?

True. It seems that Talk Radio and Fox has to do the Pub's campaingning for them. I am amazed also that the Pubs have not attacked the Dems on their lack of record and then the positive aspects of the Pub platform. The Pubs fear scandal more than the Dems do. The Dems have so many of them that they seem to be always prepared to surround the wagons to protect their perverts or crooks or even the innocent(which isn't an everyday thing.)

I could have sworn that both her eyes were brown. But even if you're right, she won't be THAT unique. Have you ever noticed that David Bowie's eyes aren't the same color? A couple of months back in another forum, one of the regulars posted a picture of a stray cat he saw in the neighborhood. It was a Burmese with big eyes, the right one blue and the left one brown, so I told him, "Oh my gosh, has David Bowie reported his cat missing?"

Yeah, in the 1970s (late) there was a short article in Rolling Stone about an imposter who showed up at some hotel, charged everything to Bowie's record label, and even (apparently) wearing a contact lens to change one eye's color (or he actually had the same unusual characteristic).

Not sure about that. Just know that she's one scary looking woman.
