The teen whose physical attributes were discussed was over 18, and asking for a picture is not a crime.

Melanie Sloan, CREW's executive director, said copies of the original e-mails she sent to an FBI agent show those assertions to be wrong.

Ms. Sloan had in the past worked for Sen. Joseph Biden(D) of Deleware as well as John Conyers. She's a liberal hack.

The DemocRATS' "foleygate" fiasco is starting to look more and more like another Rathergate fiasco with forged and phony "documents." Somebody needs to go to jail.

Watchdogs in Soros's pocket: GOP

"..One target of Republican criticism is Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), the group that last year assisted former Rep. Chris Bell (D-Texas) in drafting an ethics complaint against DeLay, which resulted in an admonishment of DeLay from the ethics committee. At last week’s press conference, Melanie Sloan, CREW’s executive director, said that DeLay should step down as majority leader.

From 1995 to 1998, CREW’s Sloan served as minority counsel for the House Judiciary Committee under Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.). Before that, Sloan served as the nominations counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee under Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.)..."

CREW is a Soros Org and Sloan worked for Democrats. This material was held held back for maximum effect on the election. The political motivations are so obvious that any part of this has to be looked at extra closely. For Instance, how can we know the IMs are real and not fabrications like Memogate? The emails we know about are very mild by comparison.

Probably typed on an IBM Selectric too.

"Sloan said the group sent unedited e-mails to the FBI because "we wanted them to commence an investigation. We're sort of outraged that they're saying anything differently." The group has asked Fine's office to look into the FBI's assertions."

Ya, we're sort of outraged!

Today when Cavuto asked Soros about this, Soros said that he contributes money, but knows nothing about what these groups do.

Missing from this WP report, per AJ Strata, CNN Paul Zahn tonight talked about the FBI investigation of CREW and according to AJ:

"The FBI said the emails provided by CREW had the Page’s name redacted and made following up impossible. They also said CREW edited the emails (they are not scans, they seem to be recreations - signs of RaThergate and Downing Street all over again). CREW challenged these claims and let slip the emails included the name of the Page and the Staffer.."

the group refused to tell the FBI how they were obtained

So I guess the FBI will just pack up its investigation and go home. CREW doesn't want to play. Oh well.

Also what is missing, per CNN's webpage:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/04/foley.scandal/

CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan disputed that account, saying the FBI was given the teen's full e-mail address July 21. CREW received the e-mails that day from "a third party who had gotten them from a congressional staffer," she said.

These CREW types are supposedly attorneys. They do know that it is a felony to lie to a FBI agent don't they? If they think that attorney-client privilege will protect them, then they better bone up on the law books, as it won't protect them if they are engaged in a criminal conspiracy to commit fraud.

Thanks for that link

Update: People with the same names as John Conyer's Detroit office staffers just happen to have addresses in neighboring upscale suburb Royal Oak, Michigan.

May mean something. May mean nothing.

I'd post the list, but I don't know, seems sort of an invasion of privacy given this is all just a hunch of a fishing expedition at this point.

Could it be that the Staffer they are talking about is Foley's ex-chief of staff, Kirk?

Could it be that they know that it was Edmund chatting with Kirk, using Foley's AIM account? Could it be that they knew this because they put them up to it back in April 2003 when they were just getting going?

FBI should grill them good, including a polygraph session.
