CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

I set Foley up by egging him into cyber-sex while I recorded it all and passed it around to people I knew would use it for a political dirty trick. No, I think he and his friends played a prank and the dem operatives either 1) thought it was real and used it or 2) thought it looked real enough and used it.

Yes. I think Foley resigned because he thought this resignation would kill the story and he could spare his mother and father this indignation. I hate what Foley did, but I feel sorry for the guy. He was a tool for the remorseless democrats who will go to any length to gain power.

Didn't Robert Livingston from Louisiana resign because of a Penthouse story that never was? I can't remember details but I think he was told a story would be printed about an affair, he resigned and then it was learned never was a story. He was tricked.

I'm with you on that sentiment.......legal troubles are heading Edmund's way and he needs to clean out his own closet before the FBI takes a look.
He's also going to sing like a bird to avoid his own prosecution.....names, etc.

Because Foley was duped, it seems. The young man was pulling Foley's leg because Foley was "FFF," or "Foley the fag from Florida" and was gullible enough to think that he had found a willing page.
Foley still needs to resign. He is not innocent. Just incredibly stupid and perverse.

That's why I kept asking....why are these young men answering the perv? If a guy is really grossed out by some old queen making repulsive suggestions....DON'T answer! And for gosh sakes, don't play along! Not normal.

I still think Hasert should resign. Whether this was a prank or not, Foley still responded in a pedophile manner. In addition the overtly friendly e-mails were brought to Haserts attention and he did not investigate this more closely. They also hid some information from the page oversight committee and tried to handle this on their own. That is why I think Hasert should resign. He should have been all over this and maybe some of this other crap would have come out.

Moreover, this is all going away big time before Oct. 15, and you're going to see a sharp surge by the GOP as people conclude the Dems are untrustworthy in ANYTHING.

Foley was a Dhimmicrat until he discovered that it wasn't getting him elected. Then he switched parties. Doesn't exactly make him a conservative darling from the git-go. I've read that before, but I can't source it. Do you have a reference? Thanks.

The story will become how a teenage page playing a high school prank almost brought down the United States government during a time of war. Agree PJ - and the big thing in that story will be WHO got the IM's and leaked them, and WHO did that person work for? That is the story now - How High up the Dem food chain does this go? Ried? Pelosi? Dean? Emanuel?
