CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.
Developing...
Foley didn't know it was a prank against him. The IMs still show motivation by Foley to pounch on the boy. Call it a "sting" by the pages, but the truth of the matter is that Foley was right to resign and the page program needs to be looked into.
This changes the whole focus of the Scandal now.
Is Foley a scumbag? Yes. Should he have resigned? yes
However - the story is no longer Mark Foley --- NOR IS IT EDMUND --- the story now is this :
A teenager who was playing a prank on someone he knew would take the bait, has now had His name sullied and dragged through the mud, because a DEM OPERATIVE ILLEGALLY OBTAINED and LEAKED PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS (Whether they were a prank or not.)
The Story is no Longer - CONGRESSMAN PREYS ON YOUNG PAGES --- the story now is DEMOCRAT DIRTY TRICKS TO INFLUENCE ELECTION.
This is just great!
I just hope negative nightly news will tell the correct truth of the matter. This kid (18 or whatever age he is) better come out with a press conference ASAP so that we can stop the rest of the investigations..... at tax payer expense!
Regards, Ivan
CBS got suckered in '04. Now it's ABC's turn.
Foley was a Congressman hitting on a page, no sympathy here. I assume he's divorced, he's disgraced himself and his kids.
"fake but accurate gone awry"
Why did he save them for three years, how did they end up in the hands of a Dem operative and why did hire a top defense attorney? All questions inquring minds would like to know.
Saved for 3 years to be timed with the 2006 election, one of the most important in our lifetime. Probably given to a Dem to bungle them. The attorney is for the possible liablity this paige boy may have to deal with. He may be held liable to a lot of careers being slashed and burned and possibly INTERFERING WITH A MAJOR U.S. ELECTION!!!
As I understand it, the news is not that they were forged, but that they deliberately written as part of a prank. Big difference.
Interesting question, although he may have alerted leadership to "rumors" not IMs or email. Details are sketchy.
I wonder if Fordham wanted to rune for congress and was trying to get rid of his boss. When that failed he got the job with Rep. Reynolds. Just speculation
I think I'll join you, it's afternoon here and I think that's when it's supposed to be OK to drink. I think I might have some Bailey's around here that someone gave me a couple of years ago :o)
Hastert forgot to include Shepherd Smith. He is STILL gleefully yakking about this on FNC and "who should they throw under the bus?", and we all KNOW that he refreshes Drudge constantly on his laptop (he's said it).
caught this on Rush at end of Rush's program...
I'm sooooo confused! All I know is Dennis should sure stand his ground.
If nothing wlse, now Dennis knows who he can trust (or not) in our Congress!!!
sw
In the bit I heard of his presser on Rush, he said "...if it turns out someone else's staff was involved, they too should also be dealt with". Methinks he had a head's up.
That said, Drudge just threw a huge, stinkin' turd in Brian Ross/ABC/MSM/the Rat's punchbowl...
A local talk show that comes on after Rush was still going on and on about the Foley news from an hour ago so I emailed him the Drudge link.
He's now on his 20th minute ranting about the filty democrats. Job done.
Get the word out, don't wait for them to figure it out.
Me, too. So much for the MSM and Dems thinking that gay people have value other than a vote. I don't have MUCH sympathy for the kids, but I get it, having been the butt of teasing and such myself.
Sure. NOW they know the IMs are fake!
