CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

Nothing shaking over at DU
Exactly. This is far too convenient.
I think the IMs were not fake. I think the page maybe pretended to be under 18 and titillated Foley along. Foley's still scum.

A sting is a sting. It takes a guilty person to be caught in a sting. I never used the word victim! It is within the realm of possibility that the ex-pages with whom he was corresponding were NOT turned on by his crude notes but they were laughing at him and leading him to utter totally disgusting comments.
Heh. I was wondering if anyone caught my meaning. :-)
Is this Roves oct surprise???
unbelievable, why wouldn't Foley's lawyer have said yesterday that they disputed the content of the messages..
The former intern was luring him into these chats. Foley's part in it was real. That's why.
I'll second that..
OMG!!
no, let's not over-reach here - Foley should have resigned - the issue of criminal behavior aside, Foley was supposed to be the adult here.
Good question. This "mistake" business smells.
Probably because he really is in the closet.
Gee .. they didn't ask for that when this story first hit the air waves
"So THAT's why he hired a defense attorney."
It certainly is. There are the known facts, and there is the law. Edmund's attorney is going to thoroughly muddy the distinction between a set-up and a "prank."
When do Lunatic Liberals lie?
When do Lunatic Liberals stop lying?
Something smells here.
That's been the tactic all along, to confuse the e-mails and the IMs and unfortunately a lot of people have been duped by that blurring of the distinction. I even saw one article refer to Speaker Hastert as having known about the "inappropriate communications" which someone who's not informed would assume to mean the IMs. The media did their best to help the Democrats win this election, but the wheels are quickly coming off their evil effort.
