Something smells here. Reports on the net are this kid was blackmailing Foley and others .. which is why he had to hire a defense attorney

Simple - because he was outed. Foley's role in this is not in question. What is in question now, however, are the ethics and motives of those who outed him.

They way I understand it, Drudge isn't claiming the IMs are fake, but that Edmund baited Foley into writing that stuff while he (Edmund) and his friends sat around laughing.
