Fox News: Foley Case Destroying Repub Chances
Fox News | 11/5/06

Posted on 10/05/2006 10:22:48 AM PDT by pabianice

Pending Hastert's news conference, Fox is reporting that internal Repub polls indicate that the Foley matter is destroying any chance of the Repubs keeping the House, "and maybe the Senate as well." Breaking as we await the Hastert news congerence. Fox reports that the entire country is riveted by this matter and it has "blown away" all other issues for the upcoming mid-terms.

I have a hard time believing this manufactured scandal is having this effect, but Fox seems to be shooting straight on this. Perhaps the dealy in the Hastert new conference is due to furious fighting over whether he needs to resign as speaker today. With no other candidate standing-by, Fox notes that Congress would be required to re-convene to elect a new speaker, keeping this mess in the lime light right up to election day. This ambush was apparently very well planned.

Not a soul at my office has talked about this as far as I can tell.

Agreed. I was disgusted with Laura today. Man, talk about throwing in the towel. She said we shouldn't be fighting for power??? What? Yea, we're supposed to be for the "right" things, moral clarity, etc. but,

until we start fighting back and fighting to hold power, we're going to end up sitting in the corner wondering what happened. Of course it's about power.

Isn't her tag "POWER to the people?" Isn't it worth fighting for?

""Imagine someone who is already disappointed in the party because of the gay issue. This adds to the disappointment. How does our party even have such people?""

Who, the gay members or the bigots who dont want them in the party?

I think that's because the polls are giving them the results they want.

And what did you tell your mother? did you inform her about the truth or did you bash the Republican party the way you do here on FR?

Screw you. If not participating in the fantasy that this is all rosy is bashing, then yeah, you deserve to be bashed. Bubble-up and Rainbow Stew anybody?

I got yelled at here because "Saddam is dead you ass"..."He's dead Jim"....blah, blah, blah. But whattya know, the fantasy was not true.

This HURTS for November. Got it HURTS! It is not, neutral, it is not good in ANY way. It IS having an effect and it WILL have an effect. The question is simply one of how much.

If you interpret the obvious truth...that being associated with the words "homosexual", "gay", "minors", "scandal", etc. is bad.....as bashing. Well, tough for you.

If they consider themselves any part of a Democrat , they will vote for perversion as Democrats have supported it to the hilt as well as NAMBLA.
BTW, If these Emails and IM's were recorded without Foley's knowledge it is a felony ( as was what happened to Newt in Florida )

I'm wondering about the legality of publishing these IMs without the consent of both parties. It has to border on privacy invasion. Oh (slap on head), only terrorists have a right to privacy.

The party works better with a don't ask don't tell policy. Gay activism has no place in the republican party.

Utter nonsense. If you think that the voters think that thd Dems have FEWER perverts than the GOP, you're nuts.

So, are we to really believe that: 1 - WHEN A REPUBLICAN ACTS LIKE A D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T 2 - the disappointed Republicans will then go to the the voting box and vote DEMOCRAT? who will then vigorously defend that disgraced Republican's right to
    Become a Boy Scout Leader
Teach to school children as young as Kindergarten that his lifestyle is merely a choice equal to any other
    Marry his male lover

Need I go on?

Bull puckey. The moonbats I have talked with about the Foley Non-Sex Scandel were either unaware of it(if it aint Bushs fault it is a non-event) or saw it as just more dirty politics. It is a non-event that has released the chicken littles from their coop.

They do not exist anymore, there are only Republicans and independents leaning Republican as well as democrats and independents leaning democrat.

Fine, then its about the independents who would have voted for Reagan.

I am fairly amazed at those who think this will have no effect. There are a lot of voters. A goodly portion of them don't have strong ties to either party. For instance, some older voters like the Democratic concept of bribing them with stuff....but they often vote Republican anyway because of social values. This erodes one of the reasons they vote for Republicans just by them seeing it on tv.

How much? I don't know. Could be a little, could be a lot. But it will obviously have some corrosive effect on some specific blocs of sway voters.

Given the evenly divided nature of those who vote, as evidenced by previous elections, that is not a good thing.

But mention this very obvious fact and you are a basher.

LS, the main point here is this:

Would Rove let Haesert stay on if these Fox doomsday polls were close to true????
