Pending Hastert's news conference, Fox is reporting that internal Repub polls indicate that the Foley matter is destroying any chance of the Repubs keeping the House, "and maybe the Senate as well." Breaking as we await the Hastert news congerence. Fox reports that the entire country is riveted by this matter and it has "blown away" all other issues for the upcoming mid-terms.
I have a hard time believing this manufactured scandal is having this effect, but Fox seems to be shooting straight on this. Perhaps the dealy in the Hastert new conference is due to furious fighting over whether he needs to resign as speaker today. With no other candidate standing-by, Fox notes that Congress would be required to re-convene to elect a new speaker, keeping this mess in the lime light right up to election day. This ambush was apparently very well planned.
LIB WOW, great, AND PEW research is a dem shill outfit along with NPR
Paste: " This is a Welstone minute and will backfire."
I wish I could see how.
Pretty simple, really. The Dems pulled the trigger on this too early. I've already heard that the Democraps have far more "Foleys" -- and that people in the beltway know about them. With 33 days left, there will be time for a Republican counter-punch: Imagine a whole bunch of Dem Foley's exposed just before the election.
In other words, the Dems have jumped the shark here.
Rush just said, "what if this is a set up." Hmmm, sounds almost... Rovian.
Same here Becky. Rush has been at the forefront of the GOP fighting back.
Quislings like Savage and Laura Ingraham are gone in my book
If Republicans let this phoney Democrat and media created non sex sex scandal effect their vote in a negative way then they deserve to lose a hundred seats
I'm getting so sick of people like you with this "they deserve to lose a hundred seats BS"! Try to remember what happens when you decide to "show those Republicans a thing or two and stay home". Dems win and YOU & I lose big time.
it isnt the end of the world if the Dems take congress becasue of a scandal...scandals have no long term lasting effect....the dems cannot build a lasting governing majority based on a scandal.
This is probably the best reason to lose congress if control is to be lost. The voters will vote dem not becasue they want impeachment, higher taxes, cut and run....it wont be a turnover caused by an idealogical struggle...thus ultimatley the DEMs are doomed...this fiasco will only discourge the left from coming up with ideas that could ive them a lasting governing majority
If "the country" were thinking at all, it would realize that Foley is just a typical homosexual, looking for gay sex aka sodomy, with young men or boys. He's no different than the gays parading and flashing signs about gay rights and gay pride. "The country" should realize that gay sex is about sodomy and the spread of disease, but Congress generally seeks to protect gays from "discrimination". And now the public schools in some areas are teaching our kids about gay "lifestyle", as if it were something normal instead of a threat to public health. Gays cause disease; the reproduce exactly Nothing.
FOX is the same as the rest of the media prostitutes. Rupert Murdoch even hosted a fund raising dinner for Hillary Klinton.
What are you suggesting? That we watch CNN?
oh yeah thats real smart!!!!
Do you think that it will not cross their minds when they go to vote about who is the party of abortionists and homosexual agenda? How about who is the party that is going to raise their taxes? Who is the party of weakness and defeatism in this war on terror? Or are they too stupid to think this way when they vote? Get real.
why dont you read my post again and remember the thread title
I seriously doubt this claim. If voters would react in this manner, then even more Democrats would lose.
They do not exist anymore, there are only Republicans and independents leaning Republican as well as democrats and independents leaning democrat.
Why not?
And what did you tell your mother? did you inform her about the truth or did you bash the Republican party the way you do here on FR?
Why not? I can. One hundred forty-thousand something voted for Patrick Buchanan, including several thousand in Florida (which was a few *hundred* votes close, and catapulted us into an election crisis.) There's no reason why it couldn't happen again.
Right now, it's looking like "lifeboat" politics - who do you toss? The hardcore "right wing?" The Log Cabin-ners?
what is interesting is that this scandal is one week and old yet no polls
Ann Coulter:
In 1983, Democratic congressman Gerry Studds was found to have sexually propositioned House pages and actually buggered a 17-year-old male page whom he took on a trip to Portugal. The 46-year-old Studds indignantly attacked those who criticized him for what he called a "mutually voluntary, private relationship between adults."
Washington Post columnist Colman McCarthy referred to Studds' affair with a teenage page as "a brief consenting homosexual relationship" and denounced Studds' detractors for engaging in a "witch hunt" against gays: "New England witch trials belong to the past, or so it is thought. This summer on Cape Cod, the reputation of Rep Gerry Studds was burned at the stake by a large number of his constituents determined to torch the congressman for his private life."
Meanwhile, Foley is hiding in a hole someplace.
No one demanded to know why the Democrat Speaker of the House, Thomas "Tip" O'Neill, took one full decade to figure out that Studds was propositioning male pages.

He who controls this best, wins.....
Facts, all to often, take a back seat to perceptions, and those who are easily manipulated are the targets of the democrap attack machine. (I'll let you decide just who those people are)
Rove can do things with the presidential pulpit to correct some of this, but congress has it's own popularity ratings and perceptions that they alone must deal with.
This is out of 50 million voters who voted Republican! Get real, do you know simple arithmetic!
