Fox News: Foley Case Destroying Repub Chances
Fox News | 11/5/06

Posted on 10/05/2006 10:22:48 AM PDT by pabianice

Pending Hastert's news conference, Fox is reporting that internal Repub polls indicate that the Foley matter is destroying any chance of the Repubs keeping the House, "and maybe the Senate as well." Breaking as we await the Hastert news congerence. Fox reports that the entire country is riveted by this matter and it has "blown away" all other issues for the upcoming mid-terms.

I have a hard time believing this manufactured scandal is having this effect, but Fox seems to be shooting straight on this. Perhaps the dealy in the Hastert new conference is due to furious fighting over whether he needs to resign as speaker today. With no other candidate standing-by, Fox notes that Congress would be required to re-convene to elect a new speaker, keeping this mess in the lime light right up to election day. This ambush was apparently very well planned.

I don't believe it either. Voters are simply not that stupid and naive.

Well let them dwell on this minuscule BS and see what happens.

Still, the one thing that remains is the issues.

For example, Bush has steadily and patiently warned North Korea's mincing little bouffant dictator not to test nuclear weapons. Kim Jong Il may just be stupid enough to ignore the warnings. If he does, he may trigger a response from the US that will overwhelm the manufactured Foley non-story and all other inane non-stories in news cycles for the next six months.

Kim Jong Il may unwittingly bring America's attention back to the most important issue of our time: national security.

Watch for Bush to use this opportunity to quietly veto the 700 miles of border fence. I hope I'm wrong but then again...

You border bots see a big immigration conspiracy everywhere. He already signed the bill. Pay attention once and a while and not just to the mindless rhetoric of your fellow border bots.

Again, all Foley has to do is get up there, speak like a MAN and say, I am being accused of being an accomplice to child molestation. HOW DARE THE DEMOCRATS DO THIS. If I had know about the vile IM's, not only would I have had Foley resign immediately, but I would have insisted on prosecution. This is an attack on my character, and I WILL NOT HAVE IT.

We don't have the poll. We don't have the methology, And we know the polster that produced this poll is the one that told Republicans to cancel appearances with hastert days ago. This polster has an agenda and I want the breakdown of the poll RIGHT NOW IF it exists.

50 seats? Yeah right.

The whole country isn't talking about it. Only politicos and perverts.

And late night talk-show hosts in their opening monologues. When Leno and Conan are making jokes about it, much of the country knows about it. This issue has gotten a lot more awareness from the average voter than the usual Beltway stuff.

I think Fox is overblowing this. But we should get the word out that, while Repubs do have their perverts and other evil people, we force them out of office, while the Dems hold theirs up as paragons of virtue and do their best to get them re-elected.

I noticed that the stories by Fox news and the other MSM folks always state a "Pollster", with no name given. Could this pollster have an axe to grind against Hastert?

"Fox is reporting that internal Repub polls indicate..."   I hope internal pollsters don't have axes to grind.

I think it might a GOP leader with an axe to grind on Haesert.

If Karl Rove saw this so called Internals and they were true, he would be the first to tell Haesert to resign.

It seems the dems aren't spinning this as Republican perverts in Congress. IT seems they are trying to spin it as a Republican coverup of a congressional pedophile. The idea of a cover up, as bogus as we know it to be, is what is getting the general voter upset. The dems are starting to succeed in framing this debate as to one of Republican corruption and cover up, not of inappropriate behavior on the part of one congressman. It then becomes a catch-22 for the leadership. Do something and you aren't doing enough or you are only doing it because you've been exposed. Don't do anything and you look like you really are covering something up.

Same here. I am a born again type and if Scarborough, or anybody else for that matter, thinks I'm going to sit home and possibly let the Dems take control so they can wreck another generation is NUTS!

All this talk is premised on the elite's believe that conservative Christians are a bunch of dumb, knee-jerk hayseeds. I got news for you...

Fox is obviuosly trying to kiss up to the Clinton Kool Aid drinkers with all of this worthless talk. Worthless it is to the max.

They are just reporting the truth. Most Americans don't pay attention to much of it...all they hear is "Republican---sex scandal---gay---minors---coverup" in passing. They don't know the details.

When they go into the voting booth they will sit there and think...okay...who do I think is worse. They will sort of vaguely associate homsexual, minors, gay, coverup in their mind with Republican...or at least moreso than Democrats for a change.

This IS having an impact and WILL have an impact on the election. Wishful thinking won't change it.
